While winter steelhead is usually our target species when we go fishing in rivers in British Columbia, coastal cutthroat trout is a species which we started learning more about.

My name is Kitty Kanhoffen, I am a teacher as well as an outdoor enthusiast. My passion for the outdoors first started when I was introduced to fishing through my husband Daniel in 2012 and it expanded quickly when I began co-hosting on Fishing with Rod. The curiosity did not kill this Kitty, but has only furthered my passion beyond fishing, which now includes foraging and hiking in British Columbia, Canada.
On this channel, you will find a collection of videos which document my adventures, discoveries, successes and mistakes. My videos include fishing, mushroom hunting and hiking. Thanks for stopping by and please subscribe! 🎣🍄🏔

Thank you so much Stadium Traveller and daughter! I am so glad that these videos are having a positive impact on others, and I always hoped they would. I feel the same way towards other KZfaqrs who have pushed me, and that is neat she has started to fish and document it. What is the channel's name? Thanks again for watching!!

I remember saying that to Daniel (my husband) when he first got me into fishing, and I still say it! I was watching videos of April Vokey fly fishing. Not only did I fell in love with her, but her casting. Every one looked effortless.

This showcases our fisheries so well. Lately I have been fishing more popular flows, they don't give me the same warm and fuzzy feeling as my small remote ones do. I love when I'm out and I don't see a single trace of people (no footprints, garbage, beer cans, line in the trees etc)

Searun cutthroat in the fall is one of my favorite river fisheries. A 5wt with a floating line and a Knudsen spider or reverse spider with a strip retrieve gets awesome surface strikes.
@KittyKanhoffen
@KittyKanhoffen 4 жыл бұрын
A few years ago we used our fall and winter cutthroat fishery as a backup if steelheading was slow. Now it takes priority over winter runs, I'd say for at least 1/3 of the season.

you have inspired my spouse to take up fishing. We travel throughout BC, including the island. She noticed you in this video hiking boots on and you are wading right into the river.. sitting on your haunches at times. She wants to know more about your clothing gear.

Hey Tim! :) So what I am wearing in this video is fishing gear, not hiking gear (waders and wading boots). Here are some links to the products I'm wearing www.simmsfishing.com/shop/women-s/womens-waders/womens-g3-guide-z-waders-stockingfoot The pair of waders in the attached link is the new and improved women's G3's model with a zipper on the side. I don't think they sell the pair I am wearing anymore. The wading boots we found online are the Hodgman Classics. www.myflyshop.com/modelItems.cfm?brandID=60&catID=27&subCatID=&modelID=574&groupID=7&pageURL=fly-fishing-waders-boots.cfm

I missed the live again. I have no excuses this time, i'm off for the next week and a bit. Anywas, that was a good watch, with nice fish caught. It was like a commercial for bc fisheries or something. I think many areas have made fishing a keep and eat only situation due to the virus situation. YOu're either staying home or outside "getting food."
@FishingwithRod
@FishingwithRod 4 жыл бұрын
littlegoobie All the fishing openings and closures haven’t been altered by Covid19 in BC actually, but accesses to some fisheries (eg. parks, trails, boat launches) have been closed to encourage social distancing. Best to fish locally for now. The less we come in contact with other people, the more likely we’ll have a summer this year. Thanks for watching the video! 😃

I enjoyed the content and those fish were beautiful and massive. They looked really healthy and thick! I live in Juneau AK and we have a good population of cutthroat trout but nothing like you showed!! I wish you would have shared the patterns you were catching those monsters with! I don't know if they would work here in southeast Alaska. But it looks like it was spring or fall. I usually am using streamers or beads trout fishing here. I am always using sinking line and dead drifting my patterns off the bottom. Thanks for the entertainment, I can't wait for spring time!!!

Mine are Simm's Women's G3 Guide Waders. I put all my gear through the ringer, not only because I'm a clutz, but we do a lot of heavy bush crashing almost every weekend. In the years I have fished I have tested many brands, always hoping that the next one will be better than the last. I have been thoroughly impressed with the G3's stocking feet and overall fit. Usually it's the feet I burn through around my ankles, but mine don't have a single hole!
