Maybe if the racing wasn't going to be rigged like always. Look at last year. The Holden's were allowed to win everything because it was "Their farewell year". Well guess what? 2022 will be ANOTHER "Farewell year." Then 2023 - Chevys first year, so gotta let them win....

@@marcosgarcia11084 That's fair enough. The Camaro is still somewhat of a novelty here in Australia but there are plenty of Mustangs on our streets. I think that the appeal for our Supercar series is that we are shifting from what was essentially a touring car silhouette (Present Mustang excluded) to a muscle car. The other factor is that the current Mustangs racing in this series have had to comply with the Supercars "Car Of The Future" rules that required them to fit within controlled dimensions. That meant that the Mustang had to shorten the bonnet and raise the roof line to comply so dimensionally it doesn't look like the road going version. That will change with Gen 3 in 2023. That's why I say they look awesome.

Anyone who hates on the Camaro being Holden's replacement, you all better take a look and see for yourselves that it does not matter. What matters is it's a V8 and we still have it battling it out with Ford.

Those were some pretty goofy looking mustangs. Looking forward to these ones though. The new generation is awesome. Can't say the same for f1. Those cars are really weird looking.

The exhausts are illegal to MA rules. They have to come out at least the centreline of the wheelbase. Something I have neen picked on for years,,, and the exhausts are legal

So ford trot out another 2 different drivers and 888 just go with there own drivers. 888 will be so far ahead of all the other teams in terms of understanding there car and how to tune it. Next year might be a walk over for Shane. And before anyone says ohh Goddard drove the car last time Giz has been present at every test day. Sounds like preferential treatment to me.

SVG seems to have been getting a lot of practice. Supercars should insist all 2022 drivers must get an equal run before 2023.

Calm down. 888 are involved with the development of the Gen3 cars, which is why they're using their own experienced (and arguably best) driver to figure out the kinks in the development process. Remember, these are not the final versions of these cars, so it's not like they're just running quali practice sessions day after day. The cars are only going to be used from 2023, so there's plenty of time for ALL teams to get their own testing in (as you would expect).

They look and sound great. Hopefully will attract more manufacturers as well. Maybe BMW M6 or M8 or Mercedes or. ….. any suggestions? Maintaining Parity could be the problem though. This Aussie series has some of the best racing in my opinion.

Nissan could enter a version of the new Z with a VK56 instead of the VR30DETT, or even a RWD GT-R with the same engine if the Z is too small.

At Bathurst they ran the Ford with no mufflers. Just for the spectacle I guess. Even with mufflers here, it's definitely the superior sounding of the two.

I love the fact gen 3 is somewhat the road going car not like the gen 2 rubbish. But what I can’t fathom is, the Camaro will no longer be available to buy in a showroom by the time they start racing….🤷🏻‍♂️ (or very soon after) Forget parity and may the best car/team win. Those who don’t win, will improve, better for the fans.

These are transaxles. I'm sure you saw already but at Bathurst there was a tease of straight line head to head. They're keeping the h2h minimal until the drivers feel more comfortable.

I really enjoy the V8 Supercars series but can anybody please explain... do these cars race this season in 2022 or is it next season in 2023? And is it only going to be Mustangs and Camaros?

Can someone explain to me where the "whine" sound come from? Rally cars and GT cars also have it but I don't understand why it is there, it almost sounds like a super noisy electric motor.

Race boxes run gear sets with straight teeth for strength. The way straight cut gears mesh gives some inherent whining. The gear sets in a street car are typically cut around the gear/helical to reduce lash and noise as they are more gradual in engaging each tooth.

Street cars use gearboxes with synchros and helical cut gears - quiet and smooth, weaker. Race cars use gearboxes with no synchros (instead dog clutches that jam together) and straight cut gears which is the whine you hear - harsher, noisier, stronger overall. Most of the engine accessory pulleys also have toothed HTD belts which whine and prevent belt slip.

Need higher revving engines with more power. 600hp is not enough. Need closer to 1000hp with either a supercharger or more displacement.and RPMs

It is hard to have both a large displacement and high revs. In general to have a high revving engine you need a larger bore and a shorter stroke, by doing so you necessarily reduce the displacement of the engine. Also, there’s no need for more power as it would be at the expense of reliability

I can tell you it’s not that far off the current cars in reality and they’re still just in testing. I was clocking them at mid 1:10’s fairly constantly a couple of weeks ago.

These cars should have been ready this year ultimately. They look ready to race, I’m not really interested in watching an ex GM, rebadged Opel/Holden Commodore. The brand is done and should be done with Supercars too. Bring on the 2023 season.

Another pointless series particularly with Mustang and Cev having GT3 cars coming. Just go to GT3 so we can see some variety and different performance strengths, get back to the days when racing here had some international relevance.
