When you start making guards, only use barracks and a few guard towers since the barracks are way more effective for person per space, with 20 citizens per building. However, once you start to use barracks instead of guard towers you can assign those guards to the mine, and they will defend the miners instead of patrolling above ground. (Also, if u turn pvp on and can attack other players you will need a lot of guards to attack other colonies.) Also, whenever you place buildings to get more land, it isn't dependent on blocks but rather chunks to decide how much land to claim. It will claim all chunks that the building is in plus one in every direction. Also place ur supply ship, it has free stuff like food. DO NOT PLACE TWO MINES NEAR EACH OTHER. Once they start to branch after reaching a y value they will hit each other and mess up the schematics

Fan fact about the guard towers is that they count as a home and a place to work and when you upgrade them it claims even more land so you don’t have to spam them so much just a Claim more land

Desert biome for a village. Easy. Try building your colony in the Nether with only Nether resources for yourself. Farms are quite interesting. My restaurant makes the hottest food around.

Expand your borders, I think that's done by upgrading the townhall but I'm not too sure since it's been a while since I've played this mod

just a note for ya, whenever possible you want to be doing some kind of research as they unlock more towers, citizen space and upgrades to them (be it guards attack, citizens speed, citizen backpack space)
