Does newer mean better? What's so special about having the word 'ART' in the title of your lens? The battle of the Dirty Thirties.

Thank you so much for this comparison. I have the EX lens and was debating to see if I should get the ART, but after seeing in photos the major color differences and details, you've sold me on the ART. Still keeping the EX for other things. Will be using the ART for video.

My 30mm EX DC fell on the pavement from +/- one meter/three feet high, it still works perfectly and it also had no visible damage. Contrary to Sigma's reputation I assume it is a very solidly built lens.

I have the EX version and only compared them at a camera store but I found the new lens to have more purple fringing than the EX and was a little sharper but only when you’re pixel peeping. The EX also is very sharp in the centre so it became a nice portrait lens for my Nikon 1 V1. Now I use it on my Z5 and look forward using it on the Zfc eventually as a nice fast prime. Just got my EX lense for my a-mount today my focus ring is velvet smooth it is used so maybe worked in more.

Thanks for the review it is clear art 30mm is much better image quality. I will save to get the better quaility art version. You had me going, I though for a moment you were going to cheap out on the EX. I might even go for the Art 35mm 1.2 because I use the sigma Sd1 camera and it likes plenty of photons hitting that Foveon image sensor.

canon 50mm 1.4 vs sigma 30mm 1.4 wich do you recommend for apsc canon?

I would choose the 30mm 1.4 since you are using an APSC - Crop sensor, a 30mm will bring more to the table than the 50mm (it's equivalent to ~85mm on a full-frame - way too close if you shooting indoor or group of 3+ people)

Canon 50mm is great for outdoor portrait on ASP-C and Sigma 30mm is a great everyday lens with that awesome shallow depth of field :)

May I use 30mm signa lense for video on full frame 6d mark 2.

The rule of interchangeability is that you can use full frame lenses on crop sensor cameras, but not the other way around. If you put a crop lens on your 6D you will likely see a lot of vignetting, if not a circle around the frame of the image.
