Can confirm, the 30mm definitely still lives up to the hype! I've had mine for about five years and it's still my main lens for the a6k.

I'd say I'm more of a prime fan, but I'm planning to switch back to APS-C soon (I lvoe my full-frame but its just TOOOO BIG) and I think I'll be primarily rocking the Sigma 18-50 F2.8.@@FeverDaysCreatives

A good lens is a good lens no matter how old it is. I use lenses from the 70s professionally.

True! I have several lenses which people consider ‘outdated’ and ‘old’ but they are always my go to’s! I bet those 70s lenses produce some awesome shots.

Do you think this lens will work for 8 year old basketball where I have full sideline access?

Would you need the lens for photo or video? The 30mm would give you a clean shot, however due to the lack of image stabilisation I am not sure it would be your best bet for sports content. I would probably suggest looking into a zoom lens such as Sony 18-105mm F4 as this is more equipped for the fast paced nature of sports and allows you to have different focal lengths, so you don't have to be everywhere at once! As the 30mm lens is a prime lens it does limit you in terms of focal lengths.

I'm not an expert in photography, but just keep in mind that with an APS-C sensor, there is cropping involved, meaning the Sony 50mm is going to work more like a 75mm full frame equivalent. So what you pick will also depend on what you want to accomplish. Another factor to consider is the fact that the Sigma lens does not appear to have built-in stabilization, meaning if you need stabilization, you will need to make sure you have a camera that has In-Body Stabilization (IBIS). However, it is likely that the Sony lens have such stabilization. Please double check all this before purchase.

Hey! I have an APSC camera (Sony A6500) and the 30mm works really well with it. It has a fast autofocus, it’s great in low light and has great bokeh - I can’t really complain to be honest!
