At first I was a bit upset to learn about the crazy pincushion distortion this lens has before buying it, but after understanding how they prioritize correcting other more important distortions in glass first makes me appreciate the decision they made to keep the lens compact

Its interesting how this industry has changed. Few years ago Sigma used to release lenses mainly for Canon and Nikon and now their n1 priority is Sony and L mount. Anyway, I hope you will also release some lenses for RF mount.

Sharpness, contrast, weight, size and autofocus of this lens are great! However the distortion is really annoying - at least until there is a lens profile for Lightroom and Capture One.

Congratulations Sigma! keep the good work. Now you could focus on making a good zoom lens for APS-c? maybe? i would like to see a zoom 10-24 F2.8 wide angle lens (15-36 in FF) . i just hope you dont forget APS-c, because i love the 16, 30 and 56mm trio that i have.

70-200mm 2.8 for Sony should have been prioritized... 85mm 1.4 yes it's great, just not what the market is demanding urgently.

I bought this lens a couple of months ago. Coming myself from the (german) optical indistry, I'm very picky about lenses. This one is, globally, amazing. Only one aspect of its performance I'm not totally happy about, which by the way it shares with most Sigma Art (DN *and* DSLR) lenses: a visible loss of image quality at close range, at wider f-numbers. Otherwise I'm very satisfied.

This looks absolutely incredible! Congratulations Sigma. The only compromise in the Art series to date has been size and weight. It not only looks like you've solved that problem with this lens, but you've managed to increase optical quality in the process. If future Art series lenses continue this trend, they'll probably be the only lenses I put on my Alpha cameras. One of my university lecturers always said "everything in photography is a compromise", I think I'll send him a link to this lens. I own three Sigma Art lenses for E-Mount and I'll be replacing my 85mm Batis with this. Thank you Sigma for the incredible innovations in the optical space, I really enjoy your lenses.

I love this brand, Just bought my first lens which isnt a kitlens from sigma, i bought the 150-600mm sports and wow, i'm amazed, FULL METAL, the build quality is INSANE, i've never seen something that premium, and it comes with a carry bag which is also pretty nice, i'm only a bit dissappointed about the weight, i used a 70-300mm dx nikon which was super light, but this thing is so insane, i can barely handhold it for a few min

Amazing to see Sigma keep getting better! I think this lens is exactly what many wanted; a compact F1.4 that has fast/silent/accurate AF and produces even sharper yet pleasing rendering and bokeh. I think if I ever had a career change I would definitely want to work for Sigma and design sweet lenses :) Thank you Sigma!!

Suggestion: The Sigma brand stands for high end optics with beautiful lenses - there's no reason that such important announcements aren't treated as such with a better audio solution than that huge microphone and a somewhat boring presentation set -- it should at least look as beautiful as it can!

We need a 70-200 mm for Sony emount before anything else. I have replaced all my Tamron's and some of my Sony lenses with Sigma, so come-on, get that 70-200mm out already.

Awesome Sigma! You really listened to your customer base and looking forward to future line of compact fast dg dn primes. Well done to the CEO! Seem like a really passionate photo enthusiast himself....As a side note request please Sigma make an evf accessory to the Fp. You would really garner more intrest to photo centric consumer who wants a pro comapct mirrorless! Itd be forgiven instead of a flip screen a tiltable evf accessory can be used. The ultra compact modular feature is really a selling point. Adding more modular features would be major advantage!

Из-за нелинейной фокусировки и отсутствия механической связи между блоком фокусировочных линз и внешним кольцом фокусировки. Спасите объектив для тех, кто иногда снимает сцены по заранее определённым точкам фокусировки!

Now if only I had a lovely new L-Mount Full Frame Foveon camera to put it on. 😂

It's great that you could make it smaller, lighter and optically better. Please update the 105mm OS Macro, too! I would love it if you could remove LoCA!

Wow great presentation, thank you for giving detailed insight into your thinking. Your Digital Native strategy is visionary. Fully exploit the DSLM potential on the high end. I have been a livelong Sigma user who recently changed to Canon R5, now stuck with the adapter. I can't find your visionary approach in Canon RF so I am really looking forward to buying the DN series for Canon whenever it comes out. Consider this post your first pre-order :-)

What about releasing a Mk II version of the dp/SD camera? A faster processor, an USB C connections and an L mont connection for the SD, the full frame will come...

As a dslr shooter this announcement is underwhelming. Let me explain sigma is new to e mount and the L mount is new as a system I am trying to switch to E mount, but the only 70-200 available is the sony which is 4 years old and more then 3000 Canadian. The Panasonic costs the same. This would be the time for 70-200 to fill that gap. As someone looking to switch in the range before I need the stop.
