I’d argue that lakes don’t necessarily need to have water be the liquid in them even on earth because we call lava lakes, lakes.

Titan might be the most interesting body in the Solar System. It's totally unlike the Earth, but at the same time is extremely similar in other ways.

you did not mention the under surface water of Earth, which is supposed to be 10x more water than the surface.
@SignoreGalilei
@SignoreGalilei 4 ай бұрын
You're right, there are some studies suggesting most of Earth's water is underground. I think the idea is that it's primarily locked up in minerals rather than in liquid lakes, though. Plus, we already know Earth has lakes so I didn't focus on Earth for this video.

The cool thing about the lakes on titan is that the methane could be used to refuel rockets planning to go deeper into the solar system. Titan could become the gas station to the outer solar system lol
@SignoreGalilei
@SignoreGalilei 4 ай бұрын
Definitely! You'd need oxygen as well though - perhaps it could be split from the water ice.
@yancgc5098

Unless we find microscopic life on Titan that uses hydrocarbon lakes as a solvent instead of water, in that case we really shouldn’t use it as a gas station

If you allow for only 2 of the criteria to be met (liquid and current), then the gas/ice giants have "lakes" in the form of layers of metallic hydrogen or water/ammonia.

There's a tone of water ice out there in solid form. It's just a rock in most of the solar system, so wouldn't count as a lake anymore than any other rock would count as a lake lol
@SignoreGalilei
@SignoreGalilei 4 ай бұрын
Yep. That's why the examples I chose for ice lakes are either places where water ice is still a volatile substance (Mars, the Moon, or Mercury) or places where there are cryovolcanoes (such as Triton).
