Thyroid disease affects one in five women and one in ten men, yet 50 percent of people with thyroid disease go undiagnosed. The main role of thyroid hormone is to stimulate metabolism, and it affects almost every function of the body. That’s why thyroid imbalance can cause so many different symptoms.
In today’s episode of my series I’m calling Health Bites, I talk all about three big hormone disruptors: thyroid, cortisol, and sex hormones.
You can find the full episode on The Doctor’s Farmacy.

These days you have to manage your own care. I noticed that quite a while ago. I had a brain tumor in 1998 that was removed and I kept having this awful head pain and the doctors never looked at my spine-yes the brain and spine are one unit called the central nervous system…needless to say no one checked me where all the tumors were. So yeah many neurologists told me I was fine and just had migraines with a history of brain tumors.. Don’t trust medical field any longer. And then the doctor told me I didn’t have cancer yet handed me a paper and a packet that stated “cancer”.

Thyroid and adrenals all need support. might take a while. And yes those damn drugs do make it worse for a lot of people and so many doctors are such turds. But I digress. Go to well educated natural health food store. Terry naturally iodine. Selenium separately. Clean diet is ABSOLUTELY CRUCIAL. Pure organic extra virgin UNREFINED coconut oil to eat with and cook. There are probably some other herbs that you can take but start slow. Also. Use pure noni juice in glass bottle. One or two ounces in morning on empty stomach. Follow with tea if you want.. good luck.

For many people, iodized table salt is their primary source of iodine (necessary for proper thyroid function). However many Dr's nowdays advocate a low salt diet, unsalted foods ( for high blood pressure, water weight, etc); thus many people inadvertently end up with low thyroid problems! Iodine is imperative; and much moreso for those who dont eat ocean sourced seafoods regularily/weekly.

I've been having low-thyroid symptoms since the age of 20 or 21, and I'm now 41! My symptoms are: depression, fatigue, weight gain and inability to lose weight, changes in sex drive, changes in menstrual cycle, and I've had my T3, T4 and TSH all tested and they've come back normal. Trying to see if my new doctor will humor me and have me on a low dose of thyroid meds, see if that will help me start feeling better. I also found out that if you have an underactive thyroid, you're more likely to develop autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and Crohn's disease. If someone has an autoimmune disease, they're more likely to develop an underactive thyroid. I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis over a year and a half ago. It doesn't mean that you will absolutely develop them, you're just more likely to.

My new endocrinologist that I saw last month he's fairly young he's in practice 6 years so I gave him the history about my hypothyroidism and told him that I am on armor thyroid medication 60 mg once a day he told me oh that's not the right medication for that I think I'm going to put you on Synthroid because that works better but I'm going to do a blood test to see what your T3 and T4 levels are and I'm thinking in my head the medication that Ivan on from a different doctor I know has been working for me because I don't get sick such as viruses or anything else like that so then the blood test comes back a few days later, He tells me on the phone oh okay I'll keep you on the Armour Thyroid because I guess it seems to be working for you😮 lol and actually Armour Thyroid is better than Synthroid because this medication comes from the thyroid of a pig which is very compatible to the human body and I told him that and I bet he did not even know that.... but the thyroid issue is stemming from a different issue in the body that one is having there is a cause for it and doctors never get to the bottom of it to figure it out all they want to do is just prescribe medicine which is beyond ridiculous because they should be getting to the bottom of it

I have hyperthyroidism.... its torturous because most drs refuse to believe you or do anything if your TSH, T3 T4#s are on the border... not to mention every lab has different norms... one lab says 0.3-6.0 TSH is normal.. another says 0.5-5... mine was 0.4 so no dr would listen to me. Thank god i went to a Nurse Practitioner in the ER and she caught it.

I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism and had a TSH level of 120. I was experiencing all of those symptoms and more, much much more. I've been on levothyroxine for about 6 months and it's changed everything. I look forward to feeling good again.

Totally agree. One of the biggest problems I see is how Adrenaline INDIRECTLY effects the THYROID GLAND. When one hormone is in play it effects other hormones. The Thyroid Gland. What influences the S.A (sinoatrial ) NODE this is what sets the power- voltage for your heart ❤️. ( iodine) This enables it to flow through in RYTHM to the A.V. Node ( it’s at this point most women will experience arrhythmic Fluttering or fast beating heart 💓- angina. Think of it like short circuiting - not a smooth flow of Power. This in turn effects the LEFT AND RIGHT BUNDLES of HIS. The electrical wiring of these NODES are found in the middle layer of the HEART ❤️ CALLED THE “MYOCARDIUM “ Always check structure FIRST then see if those structures are functioning correctly ( PHYSICALLY and CHEMICALLY ) We look at an ECG to see how the heart functions - WHEN AT REST AND MOST IMPORTANTLY WHEN EXERCISING. We want to make sure there is adequate OXYGEN been picked up at LUNG 🫁 site. O2 Levels. BLOOD WORK F.B.E ( full blood 🩸 examination) we want to see the state of our KIDNEY FUNCTION AND OUR LIVER. Also doing a urine sample so we can see what is happening AFTER the urine has gone through the kidneys. Electrolyte in balances can create minor to MAJOR problems. DRINKING WATER 💦 IS NOT THE ENTIRE ANSWER. KEY 🔑 MINERAL SALTS ARE REQUIRED TO PULL THAT WATER 💦 YOU DRANK - “ INTO THE CELL” CELTIC SALT HIMALAYAN SALT CELTIC has more MAGNESIUM in it ( you will notice it looks damp- slightly wet depending on the moisture in the air) THE BLOOD 🩸 SHOWES ME THE RATIOS OF CERTAIN KEY MINERALS. It has taken us decades before we would address the importance of have MAGNESIUM via I.V therapy. In my opinion we should use more Intravenous therapy. NORMAL SALINE AND THE OTHER KEY MINERALS AS THE BLOOD 🩸 WORK INDICATES. We know how to ratio parts per million, parts per billion. Checking urine out put and health function via COMB: 8 Stick. We do not know how to interpret the information at hand and combine this information. Not to mention having a good HISTORY on the person and what’s happening or going on in their lives. WHICH BRINGS US BACK TO THE STRESS HORMONE. Many factors influence the stress hormone. Lack of fluid 💦 water ( filtered) Lack of food - not eating or bad diet. Emotional. Fears and worries Sleep bad sleeping patterns Due to eating late - watching programs- movies with a lot of action. THE STRESS HORMONE ADRENALINE IS USEFUL AND VERY NECESSARY BUT NOT WHEN THE BODY IS KEPT IN A PROLONGED STATE OF STRESS. “FEAR AND ANGER “ The “SYNTHETIC” GETS ACTIVATED - ADRENALINE PUMPS THROUGH THE BODY CAUSING A CONSTRICTION ON THE BLOOD 🩸 VESSELS IN THE TRUNK of the body ( where all your organs are. The arms and legs are dilating -increase Blood 🩸 flow getting ready to RUN OR FIGHT) Unfortunately digestion, immune system SWITCH DOWN OR OFF. Really think about this. I’ve barely touched the surface. But here is something to take away . THE WAY YOU HANDLE A SITUATION CAN EFFECT THE WAY YOUR WHOLE BODY FUNCTIONS. THE STATE OF YOUR MIND. HOW YOU PERCEIVE WHAT’s HAPPENING AROUND YOU. TAKE EVERY THOUGHT CAPTIVE, WATCH THE WAY YOU SPEAK

My mom has hypothyroidism and has since she had her first child. I feel like it's gotten worse but the blood test show it's doing good. They will look more into it still. She has every symptom you named and more. Including weight loss, b12 deficiency, uti, anxiety...the doctor is looking into all of this though.

I've got appointment with ear, nose throat consultant in June im going to ask for them to test my antibodies, immune system. Like you said in a video of yours. I think childhood abuse may have triggered this .

Getting my bloodwork results back sometime this week. We are almost confident I have it because it runs in my family along with diabetes and some other autoimmune stuff and it’s been getting worse recently and I’m developing at a slower rate(not definite but could be a sign too) so yeah. Also I’m almost 13 so it’s nice that we are getting to stop this early

I have a lot of the Maybes. Can't lose weight, dry skin, chronic Fatigue, Low levels of Depression, Sleep problems for years, fluid retention is an understatement, lots od OA in my Knees, Hips, and major portions of my Spine. Been to the endocrinologist 2 X - both times the Blood test comes back with Good T4. Reading this and others comments - it look like conversion to T3 could be the problem. I am 71 yo, and a sufferer of Chronic pain and stiffness for decades from the spinal maladies. I have significant cervical Instabilities which I swear are affecting so much in my Body: Chronic Sinusitis, Tinnitus, Occipital Neck pains, Temporal Headaches, IBS and Bladder/Bowel Incontinence. MY ENT / Laryngologist says that he sees inflammation in the throat tendons Dr. Hyman : What can we Do ??

I felt symptoms like cold hands and feet even in a warm environment, weight gain and not being able to lose an ounce whether i ate or not, extreme fatigue etc. I just chalked it up to the 1/2 blood pressure pill that i take. Finally I told my dr that i felt that my neck was looking fatter 😂😂 cause I watch myself like a hawk and know when something is different. She said O that's just a part of getting older. Yeah right - told her that i wanted to take blood tests anyway and thats how i found out i have hypothyroidism. 50 mil. of levothyroxine and the 3rd day i could tell a positive different!! I would tell everybody ABD anybody -- Know thyself!! Blessings everyone!!

Going to the doctor for hypothyroidism is a roller-coaster! I've changed doctors and each one has a different opinion. The latest one says my levels are fine but wants me to see a specialist I went to him thinking all I had was thyroid issue. Now he says I'm in stage 3 kidney failure. May have sleep apenia. Have rumatoid arthritis and wants me to see several doctors. I just got so frustrated I said forget it. I will take my thyroid meds but am tired of all the tests and no change in symptoms. They've done blood work 4v times in about 3 months. Had a kidney ultra sound, was scheduled with a hematologist but canceled. I have pretty much given up.😢

@gdeshae, while I appreciate this Doctor's video's so very much, where are we to get tested and treated? Our medical system is broken, especially if one has insurance, even worse if one is retired without being independently wealthy. Sure, one can try and find a functional medicine doctor. They generally do not engage in "the system." It's all a designed system, at least here in the US. Welcome to socialized medicine.
