Geraint finishes off the first field and is off to the next (but that's the next video in this series). Chuckles gets a nearly full load for the steep hill to the farm, and we get a brief glimpse of the JCB on the pit. John Deere 7850 forager with New Holland TM150 and Rob on the John Deere 6520 (I think).

The blue barrels are for an additive that helps the grass to ferment.

To Snowtruckdriver It's very common in UK. You're correct - it is high protein and high bulk as well.

I've never seen "wholoe crop wheat" chopped in this fashion. it must make for a very high protein feed.

I wonder what stage the wheat is at when this is done, it has to be wet enough to pack in the pit.

Whole crop wheat? Does that mean the whole of the plant gets chopped for silage, including the grain? Seems a bit of a waste

so strange to me seeing Wheat being cut before it is ripe and cut up like silage can't say that I have ever seen that done here but maybe it is done I have not seen it

To sleepyrider How can it be a waste if it gets eaten? That's what it is grown for!
