Delp's range was incredible and this song is definitely iconic. I mean, instrumentally, vocally and lyrically, this song is an example of what can only be called Great Music. I was a teenager in the 70s and remember my brother having this album, and there were a lot of strong bands that put out great music in that decade. Probably why my son prefers 70s music over some of the modern stuff

One of the greatest debut lps of all time. Tom Scholz, the guitarist, was an MIT guy who did all the recording, etc. Record company said they wouldn't take it unless it was redone in studio with "professional " engineers. He said "ok", waited a while, sent in his original takes and they loved it! I was in 10th grade. Blew us away. Lead singer was a factory worker who sang on the side...I forget without looking it up where he worked. Tom Scholz used AVID speakers in his studio and I had the model one step down! Before the lp came out...was my 16th bday present. Harmon-Carden 330c receiver and a BIC turntable. Good times. Les Paul guitar, btw Great in concert...just like the lp. Scholz's guitar shot sparks out of the bottom in one song! Great to test a stereo with... EDIT: do the whole lp!

Yep, the whole album is a masterpiece, not a bad song on it. It's a rare thing for an album to have every song on it an actual hit but, this is one of them. When I got my first car it had no working radio but I bought a cassette player and some good-sized speakers and wired it all up. I had, I think, 4 cassettes with music on them from 8 different albums. This included the first two Boston albums. I played those Boston cassettes more than I did all the other music combined. Trip to the store, I played Boston. Trip to my friend's house, I played Boston. Ten hour road trip to another state to see family, I played Boston. Wasn't just the sound, amazing as that was, but the lyrics too. I was young, figuring out who I wanted to be, and the lyrics from some of the Boston songs helped determine what some of those things were going to be.

I saw Boston in concert in the late 70's on a beautiful spring/summer day at a football stadium in Raleigh, NC. It was soon after the album was released. We sat on the football field on a blanket, smoked a little pot, and listened to them jam. It was awesome! Nice to see young people today show respect for the music we loved when we were young.

Another super awesome album you have picked from an awesome time in the late 1970s. The radio played all this fantastic music every day.

This is one of the greatest debut albums ever. I am now in my early 70s, and I still rock out to Boston on a regular basis.

Great music, like this, brings you up, smashes you down, brings you up, smashes you down, and so on. You are left WRUNG OUT like a rag doll and FULL OF JOY. This song STILL does that to me 47 years later.. just like the first time.. maybe more!

This has got to be the best reaction to Boston I've seen. It's great that young teens can appreciate the great classic bands. I loved watching you enjoy this. This was and is one of my favorite bands of all time.

YES - the guitar SINGS, it is totally it's own voice in this song. I also LOVE IT when a song is created in such as way that it lets a guitar cut loose in this kinda way... its just awesome! And then when you got vocalists who voices soar like a guitar as well - its gold!

Not only debut album & first song, but also self-produced! Tom Scholz worked on this album in his basement for six years. Pure genius.

Debut album all done by a couple guys in a basement. Got the record deal without actually having "a band". Best debut album of all time according to many. Hence the tag "the album in search of a band".

Nobody blends great vocals with amazing guitaring and the drums like Boston. It all works together perfectly. Mandatory air guitar and drums.

The fastest selling debut album of all time. All the music was created in Tom Schult’s basement, by himself. He had to put together a band in order to record the album and go on tour.
