The Crew of Uboat U-473 is back in ww2 playing Silent Hunter 5. Our Uboat is tasked with hunting the Arctic Convoys to sink the wartime supplies from the UK and America who are supporting the Soviet forces. Our Uboat will battle WW2 Warships and aircraft who have one job to hunt us down! Can we survive to sink merchants...time will tell!

I got to admit that this was one of your best U-boat missions! The depth charge attack was brutal and how you survived it I don't know. And then to come back after that and sink 11,000 more tons just outside of Bergen is a great accomplishment! Really enjoyed the episode!! 😘😘

I can't imagine what it would be like in a U-Boat IRL. I would go crazy on a good day let alone on a day like what you went through.

Wow Taff, that was a humdinger of an episode. I really thought U-473 was a goner, but you managed to survive somehow and sink a couple of ship on the way home. Gunther Preen eat your heart out! The destroyer colliding with the oil tanker was hilarious!!! Captain of destroyer as the explosions break out all around him: "Oopsie! Who the hell put that bloody tanker there, Number One?"

Looks like you needed S-28s mighty Deck Gun of Doom there Taff ;) Even that group of Destroyers would learn to fear you lol I have a suggestion....Pack lots of T5s and every minute or 2 fire 1 at the enemy convoy...whittle them down...or in the situation you found yourself in...Fire 4 of them into the direction of the escorts to kill as many of them as possible to limit their depth charging fun

@@TaffinExile The star shells are primarily intended as a means of illuminating a target to improve the accuracy of the HE/AP artillery (from your deck gun). However, they do also have a secondary incendiary effect if they come into contact with anything that is flammable, so you can use them as a means of starting a fire on a ship laden with flammable cargo. My grandad was a ship's engineer working on the Clyde during WW2, and when he was onshore, did part-time fire-watching duties during the Clydeside Blitz. This entailed going round with a stirrup pump and a bucket of sand looking out for and dealing with those 18 inch long incendiary bomblets dropped by the Luftwaffe, which contained white phosphorus (the same material used in star shells) that ignited on impact to start fires.
