Along with a surprise handcuff padlock appearance... this video shows all of the handcuffs I currently have in my collection, including 2 pairs I have gimmicked for the purposes of helping me when picking cuffs so that I can pull them open if I run into problems picking (TCH are quite hard to pick...)
I cover some of the features in a sort of quick review and give a basic idea of how much I like or dislike them with thumbs up, middle and down. Many big name brands, as well as some lesser known and generic.
Enjoy!

Here in Australia, all police now use SAF-LOK Mk5 handcuffs. Unpickable and, from what I've seen, probably the best handcuffs in the world.

Thanks. Yes, they are rare to find but they are called cufflocks and are sold on eBay by the person called "0770amy" but they currently do not have any for sale it seems. They are readily available in the US from the handcuff warehouse website.

Nice collection SbD....I like the presentation case. I had a pair of Hiatts 1960 for about 25 years and only recently had to scrap them as the locks finally failed to work, and I had to hacksaw the chain one time when stuck in them...time to source another pair for old times' sake!

You can find them on eBay. I got mine from there, though mine had no keys. When I recorded my video and demoed them, I did so knowing full well I would have to pick my way out of them lol. I then bought some copper tubing and used files and made myself some keys. I am not overly a fan of the older 1960's model but they are of historical significance and were good for the time, even with a double lock capability!

I wholeheartedly support that notion! You can think of me as an enabler of your soon-to-be addiction to buying cuffs haha. There's something cool about not only being able to pick locks but have freedom-limiting devices that you can pick. It's quite symbolic really :D

I think I have already passed the point of soon to be haha. Just got more cuffs. Saving for Mrs Deadlocks puppy may be in the way of more for a little bit but already thinking of what the next set will be haha. I never thought about cuff escapes that way. It dose have a satisfaction that a euro lock or something like that just dose not have👍

@@Deadlocks86 Totally. In my life I have been pranked in school with handcuffs when I was a kid, I saw a middle aged guy handcuffed to a bus hand rail by some random person and seen videos about SERE (survival evasion resistance escape) where people can be grabbed by people either who are psycho who intend harm or want to ransom you back to your family for a quick payout etc (mainly seen when people holiday abroad BUT can happen domestically too) as well as seeing videos of people pranked in the workplace with handcuffs. I never go anywhere without the ability to open handcuffs. I see it as a safety measure. Plus since I have a lot of handcuffs, I try and keep a copy of unique keys for cuffs (as well as a TOOOL key) in my wallet just in case so if someone comes around and does something stupid, I *most likely* have a key on my person to get someone out of them quickly.
@Deadlocks86
@Deadlocks86 3 жыл бұрын
Havent seen any of that happen. The kidnapping stuff is a bit worrying that it actually happens. Not a bad idea keeping the TOOOL key handy. I do have one and on my set of keys or in my wallet would be a potentially handy place for it to live. I. Currently working on being able to escape cuffs using my surroundings. Not shure how far I can take that. I do plan on having a how many keys and picking tools I can hide on me episode at some point 👍

@@Deadlocks86 Nice. It's worth doing. And interesting too, finding ways of getting around things, that's what makes picking and bypassing locks so fun in the first place haha. But yes, unfortunately bad things do happen to people with cuffs. I saw a news story from last year I think it was, of someone having a disagreement over money and lets just say they went on amazon and bought handcuffs and kept someone for 3 days and abused them until luckily police found the person who did it and arrested them and freed the person. So the difference with picking handcuffs is it's a bit more of a future-proof safety capability rather than "just" a nice hobby. It serves both purposes really, I think. It's fun to pick them like any lock, but in the hopefully NEVER circumstance where it may happen, you know how cuffs work, may have something on you to deal with them or at least know what to look for around you and know whether it will help you free yourself etc. I have a parker pen in a pocket organiser in my trouser pocket, a TOOOL key with the head cut off it and a hole drilled in it attached to my keyring (has silicone tubing over it to kind of obfuscate what it is so I don't get weird questions from people like "Why do you have a handcuff key on your keyring?!" lol). I also have some hair grips / bobby pins in my wallet along with some unique cuff keys that TOOOL keys won't handle like S&W M104 & Russian cuffs that use flat keys etc. I don't carry those things out of fear, more just a nice preparedness for what hopefully would never happen any way. Doing things out of fear is never good, that is unneeded stress. It's nice to pick locks and have resources with you for whatever situations benign or serious come up. I'm always saving the day with my tools and gadgets I carry on my person every day :D

I really like you're collection. I would like to see you pick a set of ADI Saf-lok Handcuffs. They are rough to pick. But you are more experienced than I am. Stay safe and healthy. Have a Merry Christmas. And a Blessed New Year.

Unfortunately I cannot get those. I am a mediocre picker. CoxysPicks is a better picker than me and has experiences of more types of lock. I am re-organising my collection. I have too many to fit in this nice showey type of case. So I am moving things to pure storage cases. I have moved all my cuffs into plastic ammo boxes. One for UK and US cuffs, one for miscellaneous cuffs and one dedicated to non-UK or US hinged and rigid cuffs since that ammo box is a different brand and is long enough to accommodate the Yuil rigid cuffs. I have moved around my other locksport stuff like picks, shims, keys etc into the usual black box people see on my videos so it will still appear in my videos 😎

This video is old. I do not have all of these but over-all I have a lot more than I did during this video. Safloc are supposed to be good. But there are a few good ones to be fair. The German Clejuso model 9 are excellent.

15:05 What are those for, why an extra key? Is the central part stainless steel and the rest is nickel plated? By the way you could be a mime.

They are able to be purchased from the handcuff shop website in the UK and I think eBay. Around £90 ish. They are used for secure transport. The double lock is activated via a wafer key, so to open them you need the wafer key and a normal handcuff key. Model TCH HSH1

I did them myself. All you have to do (I say all... it takes quite a while) is file the teeth on the arm so that instead of being a slope with a steep drop, both have to be sloped so when you pull, the teeth slide forward and push the pawl down in the same way as they do when you close the handcuffs. I think I did a video kind of covering it on this channel. It is very handy when learning to pick and not wanting to involve or trust other people to unlock them in case you fail lol. A quick yank and they come open. Each tooth needs working on with a diamond file and testing several times, when you can click that tooth on and pull it off every time, then you can move on to the next tooth. Eventually you will have the whole of both cuffs done. I did sell a couple pairs before on eBay but it takes so much time and possible mess ups making them too easy to pull open that I only have my two pairs left and I am keeping those. The more shallow you file the slope, the easier they are to open. I would suggest not filing them too shallow. You want it sloped enough that it will force the pawl down when pulled hard, but not so shallow it barely stays closed, else it would be annoying as it would keep coming off all the time. I also epoxied the double locking on the end of the cuffs so regardless of what they are used for, if someone were to borrow them or something, nobody can sneakily jam the end of the key in and double lock them which WOULD make you stuck!. So with that epoxied up with a bubble of the epoxy on the top, that helps to prevent that.

@@CoxysPicks Yeah it can be a bit of a pain but once it's done... it's done. I have both the 3 piece and 10 piece sets of these. Very good www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yato-Professional-Diamond-Needle-File-Set-of-3-or-10-pcs-YT-6143-YT-6144/221888596621?epid=1205611425&hash=item33a9974a8d:g:dYUAAOSwa~BYbq21 But I'm sure you could use your rotary tool if you are very careful. The key is your re-shaping of the teeth should be smoothish if possible and not too steep or shallow of an angle. If you have the angle filed nicely but they are a tad too lose to pull open, you can scratch up the surface of the slope to create a bit more friction and you could re-file to a slightly steeper angle. But the more you file, the more metal you remove of course. Just make sure you only do one tooth at a time and don't move on till it closes to that click and pulls open every time. Then once they are all gimmicked and filed right, wiz them around forward and back over and over and make sure they moving in both directions over and over and then do, it, one, click, at, a, time to ensure nothing snags any time you pull them open slowly one click at a time.

It really is a big pain. Takes me several days to try and get one side of the cuffs done and there's the risk I screw it up :S I hate gimmicking cuffs lol. But if someone made me an offer I could not refuse I would sell these but it would have to accommodate for the time and effort put into making them. I recommend buying used ex-police cuffs to modify because they are cheaper.

They were a cheap Chinese brand. I do not recall the name. They are ok to pick but are not particulars good for use and I would not recommend them. Germany has some kind of similar which are supposed to be good but they are VERY expensive and VERY hard to find unless you are in the US.
