Hello. I just watched this video. My question is how do you know that your project will line up to do the foiling after you have removed the mat to take off the paper? I’ve seen other videos where it says not to remove the mat.

I thought we weren’t supposed to take our mat off the machine if we were going to send it through again because we couldn’t get the alignment correct? Or is there a way to make it a line the way it was previously? Thank you so much for your help

What would be the benefit of using the silhouette vs. just printing using a laser printer and a laminator for foiling? Trying to decide which is better option before buying the foil quill.

I'm wondering the same thing. I feel like you'll need to purchase a lot of different fonts now because it'll just outline instead of fill in unless you purchase the quill files

@@jenm4155 it doesn’t matter who’s fonts they are if they aren’t single line then you’d have to try to add a fill so they won’t be solid like a printed font. That’s the difference really between using the quill vs printer and laminator. It’s cheaper to buy a foil quill than a laser printer and expensive ink but it depends on what look you want to go for. You can also use the quill to draw dingbats too to add to things. I’d be surprised if there weren’t cheaper second hand foil quills around as a lot of Cricut owners sold theirs when they bought the Cricut foiling tool.

How were you able to load the mat the second time in the exact same location so the foiling lined up on the tags?

If I have a logo already, will it just do the outline of the logo or is there a way to fill it in?

Normally it would do the outline, but if you put a lot of internal shadow lines in your logo, it will also fill the logo. If you have the correct software upgrade you can also use sketch fill to do that.

Love the tags, but don’t have a quilling pin. That’s another $65.00 or so. Always something else to buy. But looks like fun.

would it work by not removing the negative area just to avoid the foil to stick on your mat?

That is a quick hack but seems like a lot of foil is wasted. Could you group your designs closer to waste less foil??

Yes, but probably not without taping down the foil as the gaps in between on this project as what helps stick down the foil using the sticky of the mat. You could place all your tags close then tape foil over instead to save foil though.
