This is the free version of Silhouette Essentials - Roto with Katie Morris, digital VFX artist and trainer. Rotoscoping hands and fingers can be an involved task. Katie demonstrates the correct way to roto fingers to avoid the ugly sausage look. We start by trying to get reliable tracking data, a task that is not always straightforward with moving hands. With that under control we can continue to roto the hand, paying close attention to how the full shape is going to look with the arm. Micro-movements in organic shapes can be tough to manage cleanly, and this is our focus in this session.

Mocha also can do Rotoscope,. How does it compare to Silouhoute?

Silhouette has a huge range of tools designed by and for roto artists who are doing this type of job all day. Mocha is great for simple and medium complexity shots. And, of course, Silhouette has Mocha built-in to it, so we can use Mocha data directly inside of a Silhouette project.

Thanks for the reply. One more questions. If i bought Silhouettes, can i do all from start to finish aor i have to use another software like after effect or nuke?

You can do it all in Silhouette if you want. Or take the data out to AE or Nuke. The choice is yours.
