Peggy Holds a degree in Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising from Brigham Young University. As a mother to four sons, Peggy spends her time divided between teaching and creating new patterns for Silhouette Patterns, a line of contemporary patterns available to the home sewer. During her career she has taught college courses in pattern drafting and design. She professionally drafts patterns for individuals and manufacturers all across the country ranging from golf apparel to black tie performances. In addition to apparel designs, Peggy has designed the patterns of the costumes worn by the Mens Olympic Figure Skating Gold Medalist, Elvis Stojko.

Made my (modest, very modest amt... wishing was much more!) but pleased to give. Now to watch the video... as a busy Saturday and could not view LIVE.. playing catch-up tonight. thank you Peggy S for all you do!

Some of the questions come from trying to use multiple techniques from multiple teachers. I am new to Silhouette patterns and to manufacturers sewing techniques. I am currently working on #315 top and making a muslin. I have an inexpensive knit and I have been instructed to use the (wobble stitch/lightening bolt stitch to make muslin-for stretch purposes with knits) If you do that then the muslin is terrifically difficult to rip out especially if you are using matching thread. If you use a "straight" stitch, maybe with basting, straight stitches, then the stitches may break before you are ready. I have been told I need a "stretch" stitch for knits.

Hi LuAnn! 315 is a wonderful pattern! Using the Lightning stitch that is often recommended for knits, is for final construction, after you have fit conquered. It is indeed so hard to get out! Some machine offer a default for a technique, but you can override for what is better for technique like basting a muslin, or fabric.... which is the boss. Just use what Peggy suggests for the muslin, a long straight stitch with normal tension. Don't worry, it won't rip out when trying on! I use a stretch needle if I get skipping stitches (it slides between the knit loops better) otherwise a universal will most often do (though, some contrary knits like a microtex/sharp better!)

Very clever top... Might at this point be sorry I did not jump on it when was POM. Especially like that bust area is double.. making those awfully thin knits far more wearable.

I have a complaint: You have to label these tutorials as addictive. I am spending way too much time here and feel bad if I don't get to watch them. Thanks for making them sooo interesting.
