Also for some context (idk if anyone’s mentioned it yet). Sonogong (or Son Wukong) is a mythical character who is a monkey king from a story called “Journey to the West”. He was basically a hero and rode a cloud as his vehicle while holding a power pole (which were all referenced in the lyrics). He also had the ability to create shadow clones of himself, which I believe was referenced in the choreography (esp the last bit of choreo). And yes, Goku from Dragon Ball Z is basically Sonogong, and what’s cool is they referenced the anime as well 🔥. The two fingers to the head choreo they kept doing is called “instant transmission” and its how Goku in the anime would teleport. Dino at one point did a rave/circles his hands toward the camera which we presumed was a reference to one of the power moves in dragon ball. I am sure someone else can explain the story of Sonogong better, but just wanted to provide some context from the story and how it was portrayed in the song/mv/choreo :)))

LMFAO I remember in one of your streams after you went to the DC svt concert, then coming back from the Newark show, you were asking that same question and now they're even bigger like girllll I was a goner the moment he popped up on screen! Also, thought I would explain some of the Dragon Ball Z/Sonogong meanings for you since you seemed confused (I personally never watched Dragon Ball Z growing up but I watched Form of Therapy and itsANDYandJAS's reactions to SUPER and they did a great job explaining everything for me, highly recommend to other Carats!): 1. Sonogong (Goku in the Dragon Ball anime) is known as the Monkey King, a god in Chinese mythology - note in the beginning of the MV, Woozi is sitting on all those dancers which looks like a throne for the king. 2. Goku also has a flying nimbus cloud that he travels on, hence Mingyu and Coup's verses mentioning a 'flying cloud' in the lyrics. 3. The lyrics 'Feels like I turned into Sonogong' refers to how Goku is a character that never gives up no matter how much he gets taken down which in SVT's case can refer to how they far they were able to come all these years because they never gave up on their dreams despite all the hardships. -Really cool side note but if you listen to how Dino and Minghao pronounce 'Sonogong', Dino sings it in the korean way 'Sonogong' whereas Minghao pronounces the Chinese way 'Sun Wukong'. 4. The move in the chorus where they put their two fingers on their head (20:49) in the anime is how Sonogong teleports (also called a transmission). That flower-like move that Dino does at 25:27 is also a reference to Goku's main move in the anime. 5. Joshua's verse also mentions a 'power pole' which is the staff that Goku uses in the anime. 6. Goku uses a move called the 'spirit bomb' where he creates one final attack by gathering everyone's energies, which explains the EPIC ending verse by Woozi and can be seen in his lyrics 'PING' and 'Ener-Energy, one massive shot'. Woozi's ending line 'This is the cartoon's credits song' is also a reference to the anime cartoon.

Sonogong is the Korean version of Son Wukong who is the monkey king from journey to the west apparently...where Son Goku was based from... And Son Wukong is the original Chinese mythology character... 😂 So the story and the lyrics of Sonogong is how he overcame obstacles to complete his journey, and ofc Woozi our resident anime buff put in all the references he could... 😁

Super is actually inspired by the chinese character of sun wukong which in japanese is son goku(dbz) and in korean is sonogong. And the references in this mv are some of dragon ball z too the finger in the forehead at the chorus and some of the lyrics too have references towards the character
