Silver Comet Trail by Recumbent Trike

Memorial Day ride with the Honor the Warriors group on the Silver Comet Trail. This trail actually starts near Smyrna, GA and runs to the Alabama state line where it then becomes the Chief Ladiga. In this Video, we rode two consecutive days starting in Rockmart. The first day riding toward Alabama and back. The second day riding toward Smyrna although not fully to the end. Parts of this trail are quite hilly making e-assist a welcome nicety.

Recumbent bikes are a blessing for senior citizens with diminished strength and agility.

Awesome to see this. I did a 15-mile section of this trail in Georgia back in 2021 (from somewhere a little west of Woodstock) and thought it was a very nice trail. I will be in the area during parts of the year now, so I plan to explore the rest of the trail when I get the chance.

I've ridden the SCT countless times on my upright bike. I'm riding a Catrike Villager now due to health issues and am looking forward to seeing the remoter parts of the trail again from a new perspective. Awesome video!

I would like to know if there is camping along the way of these trails for accomodations? I love the video thanks for sharing.

This particular ride was planned by members of the Carolina Creepers Facebook group. Rides like this can be found under Events. Apply to join this group or other local recumbent groups and you will have the inside scoop on planned rides.

Well I have encountered trikes in the trail and one of the problems is they are simply too wide and force others to move over and they cannot negotiate tighter places. They sit way too low. And the day I cannot balance on my recumbent Bike E is the day I bike no longer!

Trikes are not handicap vehicles. We ride them for comfort and by choice.

Never said anything about handicapped vehicles. Just said they are very wide for most bike trails. I have no trouble riding my good old Bike E recumbent anywhere like the so called "normal" bikes that I refer to as out dated tech bikes. But recumbents are the best for enjoyable long range normal riding.
