Silver Solar Demand Could Take Half 2027's Supply

SUBSCRIBE to Our Channel: www.youtube.co... The first half of the trading year 2024 is completed today, and in the second half of this week's SD Bullion Market Update, we'll examine how silver and gold have fared around the world.
But to begin, I want to focus on a chart regarding the ongoing high silver premiums paid in China for industrial-sized 1,000-oz silver bullion bars.
The silver and gold markets traded sideways and slightly down, respectively, on the week.
The spot silver price ended the month, quarter, and half-year point just over $29 oz bid.
The spot gold price finished just over $2,325 oz bid, and gold was slightly stronger than silver on the week.
The spot gold-silver ratio finished at 79.

What is the silver use for these mirror/collector parks vs PV pannels? It looks like these huge parks in the Gobi desert are going to be mirrors rather than PV pannels, I'm not sure how to compare these, Silver per sqare meter, or silver per watt. What do you think?

You’re correct. The array is a molten salt boiler tower with heliostatic mirrors to heat the salt to molten temperatures, converting water to steam in a grid around the molten salt and produce energy. US has one in Arizona I believe.

@@George-664Those are polished stainless steel, silver & aluminium corrode when exposed to the elements, in silver's case sulphur is the big problem, which is one of the reasons a normal mirror is covered with glass, the other being support for the thin layer of silver used.

Interestingly, all the PGM metals are in a similar depletion situation as well. Notice the crash in the price of silver with a sharp jump up in palladium. A drop in the price of gold accompanied by a jump in platinum. All this accompanied by heavy volumes of day trading. as in silver we are talking about billions of ounces traded for 15 ! minutes. The price gouging cartel defense can't handle everything. As long as gold is available, platinum is not, for example. It is enough for 1 million doctors, teachers, engineers to buy 5 ounces of platinum in a year to wipe out the abovegrounds stocks of the metal for several years.

Here's the secret. The only efficient way to melt silica sand is with coal it is the only thing that burns hot enough efficiently. Thus is why China is able to pump them out they don't have the strict environmental regulations. We just need Trump back and cheap oil.

JAMES, I suspect these mirror/collector parks do not require much silver, IF ANY. I suspect aluminum, not silver, is the reflective surface, as opposed to PV panels. Please correct me if I am wrong.

These mirrors are silver because aluminum will oxidize much more quickly when exposed to the elements. Amount of silver is minuscule per panel though. It’s a vacuum deposition process only a 3-6 microns thick.

That's solar farm uses heliostat panels which are mirrors not photo voltaic. They reflect sunlight to the center tower

The solar energy plant you've shown doesn't use PV panels. It uses mirrors instead of PVs and concentrate the solar beams onto a center liquid tank to produce steam power.

@jfree9951 Solar PV uses plenty of silver. Mirrors used for that solar thermal plant just need aluminum. HUBBLE Space telescope mirrors are " fogged" ( some sort of plasma coating process) with Aluminum. - most all mirrors are. That doesn't take away from the fact that Ag demand is increasing most every year.

First gen were aluminum but oxidized quickly. New generation mirrors use silver. Less oxidization, better reflectivity 99% vs 95%.

james, those arent solar panels. they are mirrors that reflect heat to tbe tower. very little silver used in tbis plant.

I'd say about 6-7% of homes in my neighborhood have solar panels on their roof this year. Last year it was less than 1%. The salesmen are extremely pushy, knocking on doors non-stop and even stopping me while walking my dog. They've given up for the year and aren't around anymore. Then we had a giant hail storm and all the homes around here (including mine) got new roofs. None of the homes with solar panels got new roofs. IMO, that's consistent with bad customer service that's been reported with these solar companies. You can't get them back out to service after the initial sale. Either that or it's cost prohibitive to remove the panels for a new roof install and/or insurance doesn't cover it. They'll be unhappy with that choice when the roof eventually fails prematurely because of hail damage. And man oh man, are they ugly.

I bought systems for my last two homes. As with anything, there's costs and benefits. Given that electricity appears to be increases in Kw cost annually, I'm happy with the purchase and the systems. I still have the neighborhood record high sale on my last place. The panels didn't hurt....

Solar panels are aweful for the environment inefficient and cause us to rely on China. Eff that nonsense. My electric bill is 30 a month in the summer and less then 60 in the winter it would take me 50 years to recover costs. Maybe people just need to turn off the lights when they leave a room

First of all China buys silver and gold because there is nothing else to buy with dollars. China exports much more than imports, so they started not sending the rest to reserves but buying metals as soon as USA sells.

Don't bank too much on solar energy. PV technology is weak crap. The solar tower with the mirror thing is also a stupid over complicated idea that hasn't worked (cost-effectively) anywhere in the world.

I hate solar power, but I love silver. The answer to energy production is nuclear power. Also Wind and Solar are weakening the grid because they are nonsynchronous, although solutions can be implemented with massive flywheels.

A solar panel uses 10 mg of silver per watt. This is for TOPCon panels. New panels due to use twice this amount but panel density will double. Same output in a panel 1/4 same physical size. 95GW 2023 USA 564GW world 131GW 2024 USA 797GW World 182 million ounces 2023 228 million ounces 2024 These are the most conservative estimates. Year over year 25% increase. Run that for next 6 years you get 869 million ounces used by 2030.

That isn't going to happen. I'm sure you're just putting out a hypothetical... You need local production , and storage. There will always be transmission losses. Night and clouds put your idea in the circulation file, too.
