My review of the Silvercrest Stand Mixer SKM 600 B2
I didn't buy it from Lidl
It's the one I bought second-hand from Tynemouth Station Market 😁
Would I recommend buying it? Only if you can get it cheap

I have that mixer too. I love it. They day I received it I opened it and and made some cheap modifications. Now it is better than the Kitchenaid. 1) Noise (easy fix): The noise is due to the motor timing-belt tension. Loosen it slightly (allow 5-7mm light sideways push) and the noise is gone. 2) wobble top part (complex fix). (see footage @0:59) there is a curved elongated slot. It has round holes top&bottom for the locking pin to slide in. The metal bracket (inside) need to moved up 0,5mm-1mm. Add spacer under the "holder pin" for that bracket and optimize the locking holes such the push button pin slides in more easy. This will remove any play and no wobble at all (you need to trim the spacer to exact match to remove the play). 3) Greasing the gears (optional and more complex fix) replace the sticky (food grade petroleum jelly) grease with normal petroleum jelly and the machine runs completely friction less. 4) Mixer-to-bowl distance (very easy fix): add some rubber spacer under the bowl to elevate the bowl such the mixer will barely touch/scrape the bowl and you can mix 10ml of whipping cream, no problem (~2-3 mm of flat spacer). It will be an amazing tool with above modifications but you need to be a handy guy.

Hi just got this mixer. How do you adjust the timing belt? I assume you have to access the motor by removing the top? Removed 4 screws but didn't come off. Do I need to remove the bit that swivels to access more screws? Presumably then I can access the grease as well? Thanks, really helpful advice

@@keith7307 You have to remove the cover and get access to the bolts to the motor. These can be loosened to relax the tension. If I remember correctly, there is a screw on the rear of the cover that can only be accessed from underneath of the foot of the machine. So this may be a bit of a hassle. After removing the cover, to access the gears, the belt need to be removed and the gear compartment need to be opened and cleaned out.

Lidl are doing these for £25 until tomorrow...half-price Middle of Lidl deal. That's a SIXTEENTH of the price of a KitchenAid. 3 year guarantee, too. Sure, it's not perfect but what a bargain.
