Hi Shasi - Good episode and nice discussion - it was really interesting to listen to the insights of Albirex. However, i have my reservations about the club in whole in terms of success. Don't get me wrong, but yes, they deserve the credit for their impressive achievements. In fact, i strongly believe that they are indeed a template (example) for our other local clubs to follow. But my reservations are about how their success is transferred and helped assist the progression of Singapore Football. This is the champion team of the league and we do not see any SG players from their squad being call-up for the National team matches against Tajikistan and Chinese Taipei (save Hassan). I do not blame the NT Coach, cos i think the rest of the SG players in the team do not have enough paying time for our NT coach to review. So the team, in my view benefits the Japanese players, who seemed to be hand-picked by the coach and they continue to ply their trade overseas after one season in Singapore. - It appears to be akin to how our SG players playing in young lions during national service Yoshinaga - i have great respects for this coach and strongly believe that he has the calibre to lead our national team but i will like that narrative to be backed with a better prerequisite than just bring in four season titles - because i believe he benefits heavily from the youth football system from Japan. I will actually like him to take on leading teams like Hougang, Tanjong Pagar and turn their tides with the cards that our local team get deal with. I am not saying he can't, he probably can, and then i feel he will be the suitable candidate for the NT. The only challenge is perhaps LCS snapping him up which is not an impossibility. Its up to him to chose what he wants, including returning back to Japan. It just a question if he really has unfinished business with Albirex still. Remember, this league winning team lost to JDT only months ago. 😀😀😀
