@@SocketsAndSideburns would be interested to see a starter motor replacement video. The only time I've taken my Clio to a garage rather than do the work myself was to replace the clutch. They didn't reinstall the starter correctly so the ring-gear wouldn't disengage upon engine-start...made an awful racket. They did remedy the issue but wouldn't mind replacing the starter as since then it seems to struggle a bit. A clutch replacement video wouldn't go a miss either to be fair...there's a couple for this engine on YT but they're not terribly good videos. Especially as I suspect that same garage didn't bother replacing the throw-out bearing (if you know if there's an easier way to replace that, then that would be awesome but I suspect there isn't...probs best to do the whole clutch job). Keep up the good work.

A started motor replacement video I can definitely do in the future. The clutch on our Clio is still going strong at 115K miles but I do think I will do it soon as the years big project. Most videos show the cheat way to get it out but that's no good if you actually need to remove the box.

I feel unless you are a professional where you are using socket sets daily. Then a socket set like halford advance will do someone fine good quality tools with a lifetime guarantee and they do last but even then with the guarantee you get with them you could use them daily. I here people banging on about Snap on all the time however if you are only using the tools once every couple off months , Then do you really need to pay the silly prices for snap on. halford ratchets are 100 tooth ratchets now , the older ones where 72. I really like the halford advance stuff , would I like snap on yes I would however I only work on cars every now and then. I couldn't justify paying Snap on prices really for the amount off times I use my tools. I don't think people should buy cheap rubbish by the way , I just find the advance stuff is affordable and good quality in 10 years they always got the job done never broke on me either. power tools on the other hand dewalt is my preferred brand had a black and decker once still gives me nightmare lol.

I couldn't agree more. Like I said the worst thing is when they just rebrand tools and sell them on at 1000% mark up. The halfords advanced stuff I have from over 10 years ago is still good now. I've used supplied tools daily in jobs and none of any of it was ever snap on and never broke a spanner or socket, ratchets wear out but so does snap on. The snap on is a step up yes... is it WORTH it? Nope. The only thing I would pay full price for from them is the flare nut spanners. Power tools yeah, you've got to get one of the big boy brands, Milwaukee for me. Thanks for the sub.

I have a Clio 1.2 16v (D4F) that has been sitting for about 5 years. I'm interested to know your thoughts on trying to start it after such a long time, so to avoid future engine damage? Is there anything specific on this car/engine that I should pay attention to? I would also like to drive the car on the roads so will be thinking of brake safety etc too. It would be great if you could make a video that explains the procedure. You seem like a very knowledgeable guy so I hoped you'd be able to shed some light on this for me. It would be greatly appreciated.

Oh wow that is a long lay up. Was the car prepped for storage before it was laid up? Was it stored inside or outside?
