Silverton is an historic and quite unique town 25km west of Broken Hill. Miners started flocking to the region in 1880 when rich silver deposits were discovered . The population reached 3000 in the mid 1880's. It all changed by 1901 with a mass exodus to that place with the funny shaped hill. Broken Hill as we now know it was the tip of a massive mother lode of silver , lead and zinc. The rest is history!
