Sim city is just so charming, plenty of snes games have aged quite well imo and this one is right up there with the best of them.

Every time I attempt this, beit zone stacking, donut zoning, anything my city amasses a population of 250k and stagnates there forever. What the hell!?

I played this game when I was a kid in the early 90s. During lockdown I found it on a DOS emulator and built my first ever megalopolis. I thought it could only be done on custom maps with no water but how wrong I was. I also realised that citizens will always be upset that pollution is too high.

Impressive man. It took me almost 20years but in 2009 I finally did it. I did it a tad differently. I opted to run a railroad track at the very top of the screen and then ran down everything i needed from there in sets of two. By not running the railroad left to right (other than the very top of the screen) I saved myself enough space to build what was needed. Put the industries on the sides of the map, commercial next to them, and residents in the middle.

Tried playing this again after many years. Got fired in the fifth year. I thought it was going okay.

My college friend and 3-4 other people in his res hall at ETSU kept the SNES on around the clock and had a megalopolis going over the course of a semester. IIRC the city got so big it noticeably slowed down the user interface.

I remember either on the snes gamebox back or on the manual, they had a "Megalopolis" with the entire city structure. I coped it building for building and it barely made it to 100,000 people. I was so mad lol. I never figured out how to make one until watching this video.

The demand for "R" and "C" zones were high, yet the city was designed to have more "I" zones instead. I thought you were supposed to have one "C" and "I" zone for every two "R" zones?

My Megalopolis should be 25% Industrial, 25% Commercial and 50% Residential is an equivalent balance. Think this way, lad as my suggestion. I take this suggestion because it is supposed to be this way.

I was under the impression that the best pattern was *_Circular Donuts:_* With 8 zones in a circle & the center for a special building ? I guess not ?

I was going 1.5x sleed and this was very helpful. I know you kinda cheated but still now i know the general idea of how to set up a city.

You can't use rails or power lines on the water because it will cause the ship wreck. Also you must bulldoze everything near the fire even the zones. Plus building a fire dept. does not help put it out.

I just threw Sim City in the NES and cranked out a megalopolis by 1948, and maxed out my population at 727k. I didn’t even know there was a money cheat. Kinda defeats the purpose of playing the game though.
