Arabic and Amharic are the top two most widely spoken Semitic languages. Amharic is the official working language of Ethiopia, an Afroasiatic language and one of the Ethiopian Semitic languages. It is spoken as a first language by the Amharas and as a lingua franca by most people in Ethiopia. Arabic, meanwhile, is a Central Semitic language and has official/national status Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Chad, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Malta (Maltese Arabic), Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, SADR, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania (Zanzibar), Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. Arabic is also the liturgical language of Islam and has had an influence on many different languages.

Abdifatah Elmi Are you interested in your Somali genetics? Here are samples of Somali DNA results from the Eurasia K=8 genetic database...I highlighted the Near Eastern column so you can see Somalis have lots of Near Eastern ancestry as well. The Sub-Saharan African column is on the far right. Somalis are like a near half/half mixture of Sub-Saharan African and Near Eastern DNA: ibb.co/hRsKMtS

@@rahmauk6005 Actually you're being the racist since you're generalizing which is racist in itself. Some Ethiopians are racist against West Africans, and I if would claim that ALL Ethiopians are racist against West Africans then I would be racist. Understand how racism works now? Let that Egyptian show love to Ethiopians without you interfering just because in your worldview ALL Arabs are racist. Also learn how to spell.

Yeah, but they're deliberately choosing only words that sound similar the same or similar meanings. There are many more words that dpon't sound so alike or have similar meanings. They did the same trick with Hebrew/Arabic and a lot of other related languages.
@Emsyaz
@Emsyaz 5 жыл бұрын
M Benyossef Of course not all words are similar because Amharic is an african language originally. However, Arabic had greatly influenced the language. Hebrew and Arabic on the other hand are sister languages. They originate from a common ancestral language. Thats why hebrew and arabic have more similarities than differences.

Bin abdo yemen dude the Sabaeans deites are derived from the Dravidians not the Ethiopians. The people of Saba' are from Imliq (Amorites/Amalekites/Hyksos) who were mixed with the Asiatics(Canaanites) who are the Dravidians and a people same as pure Native Americans (same type of culture and Im not referring to the lovely Turkic or mongolian people) the pre islamic deities of the sabaeans , phoenicians and nabateans are derived from the dravidians who are original Mediterranean and Sumerian people , one branch settled in the West the other branch went East (Sumerians) then to India via Southern Iran until they reached Northwest India , then trade connected them again for Southern India had strong trade relations with Nabateans, South Arabia , Rome and Greece There are two cushs and three nimrods Nimrudh (Nimrod) was the son of Kush (Cush) Ibn Kan'an Ibn Ham lbn Nuh. The same who ruled Babil in the days of lbràhim, the friend of the Compassionate www.soebratie.nl/religie/hadith/IbnSad.html < this is referring to the Dravidians who are original Mediterranean and Sumerian people they are Canaanites. They are asiatic cushites from canaan not cush bin ham page16 of prophets and patriarchs it says Arfakhshaad also had a son, nimrod bin Arfakhshaad whose dwelling was in the vicinity of al hijr on page 18 of prophets and patriarchs it says Nimrod was son of cush bin canaan bin ham bin Noah . he was the Lord of babylon and of Abraham,the Friend of the Merciful. < referring to the Dravidians one of the offspring of cush was nimrod the one who ruled tyranically in babylon < blacks and Abyssinians are from cush bin ham Zanj (Arabic: زَنْج‎, meaning "Blacks"[1][2][3]) was a name used by medieval Muslim geographers to refer to both a certain portion of Southeast Africa (primarily the Swahili Coast), and to the area's Bantu inhabitants.[4] This word is also the origin of the place-names Zanzibar ("coast of the black people") and the Sea of Zanj. < Wikipedia Quote"Attempts to match Nimrod with historically attested figures have failed. Nimrod may not represent any one personage known to history, and in reality is more likely a conflation of several real and fictional figures of Mesopotamian antiquity, including the Mesopotamian god Ninurta, the Akkadian kings Sargon and his grandson Naram-Sin (2254-2218 BCE), and Tukulti-Ninurta I (1243-1207 BC) of the Middle Assyrian Empire. Excellent! Greetings from Sweden. My wife is Ethiopian. I know a few similarities already, before I have started listening to this clip: "bet" (home/house), "merkab" (boat/ship), "bahar" (lake), "masmor" (hymn/psalm), "koufia" (hat/head covering). Yes, I knew "dam" too.

As a Hebrew speaker who knows a little Arabic I was surprised that the only one I did`nt understand was Horse, all the rest I understood at least to the level of thinking that the 30 was 3 , like the Iraqi girl. This surprised me , especially as Israel has a large Ethiopian Jewish community and I rarely can pick a familiar word out of spoken Amharic, but that`s probably a lot to do with accent and speed of speech. Wow.

Yeah when amharic was made (according to manuscripts) it was supposed to be a secret language that only few people knew about to avoid leaking of military info by spys (mostly cushitic and other semitic speakers) so they intentionally made it sound different ,and the language was formally called lisane negus (the tongue/ language of king) it was adopted by ethinc amharas which later on changed the languages name to amharic, most Ethiopians now adays can speak amharic (even tho they aren't all amhara) maybe the ones u heard talking were agews who are cuhsite

When you put on the subtitles in arabic regarding 3 and 30, the thirty in arabic letters read "Thalathoon" (with a waw) but you transliterated it to "thalatheen" (with a yaa'). Both ways are correct depending on the position of the word in the sentence. Great video! Love your content.

The Ethiopian girl's Arabic pronunciation is so accurate that I actually had doubts about her being Sudanese not Ethiopian lol. Or maybe cause I'm Sudanese and always get mistaken for being Ethiopian even by Ethiopians themselves. Anyways, I love all Ethiopians and I know they love us too, wish you guys and Eriteria and all Africa nothing but the best. 💙

The reason why Arabic and Amharic is so similar is because both semetic languages

Isaac - Amharic has been in existence for at least 1500 years. And Semitic probably first appeared in Ethiopia or northeast Africa in general.

Isaac - yes Semitic has more than 5000 years history but studies show the diversification of EthioSemitic languages needed at least 5000 years and this timeline is near to the timeline for proto-Semitic. www.jstor.org/stable/41966122?seq=1 Not all Semitic languages are found in the Middle East. In fact most of the Semitic languages are found in Ethiopia/Eritrea than anywhere else. Ethiopia occupied Yemen long after Semitic first appeared in Africa and then spread to the Middle East. The look of Ethiopians have little to do with Yemen. It amazes me that some mention Yemen when trying to explain Ethiopian civilization but the truth is the ancient civilization of Yemen was inferior to the ancient Ethiopian civilization.

I’ve always been attracted to the East Africans culture history and language the Mysterious relation between the Arabian peninsula and Ethiopia thought makes sad ,we have so much in common.We used to use Ancient South Arabian script witch is the Ge’ez in east Africa. I hope one day I can visit Ethiopia i have to ,gorgeous people rich history ❤️

The south arabian script is not Ge'ez. The oldest Ge'ez findings are in Eritrea and Ethiopia. Ge'ez is Ethiopian not south arabian.

Michael Nigussie Yes I read about the Royal marriage between Yemeni Royal Family and Ethiopian Royal Family, despite some people said it was Eritrean royal family and Yemeni. However I believe at that time Ethiopia and Eritrea was the same land and ruled by the same emperor.

Eritrea has always had Royal Families and it was never the same country as Ethiopia. Prior to Ethiopia's bloody occupation which aimed to wipe out our history and languages, Eritrea was a British protectorate from WWII on, an Italian colony from 1880's, and even prior to that was part of the Ottoman Empire for nearly 350 years. Where do you get your facts from? Delusional much? Please read a little. (P.s. I am a Tigrigna speaker of Eritrean heritage and have origins from a Royal bloodline which ruled parts of Eritrean lands for over 400 years.) Most of the serfs would not know any of this as they were strongly discouraged from engaging in anything but farming and church going.

In Czech we have STILL SOMETHING in common, perhaps TŘICET (= ሰላሳ in Amharic pronounced selasa, in Arabic ثلاثون pronounced θala:θun remotedly similar thirty) and BYT (ቤት = in Amharic pronounced beit, in Arabic بَيْت pronounced bait meaning 'flat', 'appartment' and not 'house'), OKO (= عين pronounced ayn in Arabic, (አ)ይን pronounced ayin in Amharic very remotedly similar eye) and SEDM (= سبعة pronounced sabʿatu in Arabic, ሰባት pronounced sebat in Amharic seven).
