The G4Z held up well. Good wader as it should be at $1,000. They leak a small amount but can easily repair them using some Aquaseal to seal it up, and a little rubbing alcohol to find the leak. Not a big deal. All waders are easy to repair.

When you got a rain jacket, sling pack, and net on your back when winter steelheading in heavy rain that zipper makes a big difference

Yes that’s very true, and you are 30 yards from the shore and no place to off load that gear. 😅

Love my G4Zs. The various sizing options make them easy to find a comfortable size option as well. I personally can't stand jeans, but my G4Zs are super comfortable. I'd recommend them to any serious angler.

Didn’t care for the stocking boots on these waders, sent them back twice to be replaced as holes quickly wore through the heels. Also gravel guards hooks tore out in a few months. BUT, the warranty repair was free of charge and they are very comfortable and high performing in every other capacity!

Oh man, that sounds like good service but hard to part with your waders like that. Glad you are satisfied overall though. Good feedback and thank you for sharing.

Having had 2 sets of Simms over 15 years the waders are great but Customer service is terrible, I had a ruck sack fall apart, literally all the seams failed, arrogant would be one way of describing the response, woeful another. I did not ask for a replacement just asked they look at it to see if it was up to the standard they expected. Anyway terrible response from the Europe Guys (no UK based warranty) so I bought a set of Orvis Pro Waders as I was not willing to give Simms any more of my money, having just done 2 weeks in Canada, walking 10 k a day in them, so far I have to say for a good bit less money the Orvis waders are more comfortable, a better fit and stood up well to pretty heavy use. And Orvis have a UK based warranty that for other stuff has been faultless.

where wader booties are like 9-11, 12-13. when in between sizes how big is too big on the booties when you can't get perfect size

What size wading boot are you wearing? If you are wearing a size 12 wading boot, go with the 12-13. If somehow you have an 11.5 wading boot I would try for a 9-11. I wear an 11 in everything and the 9-11 isn't tight on my feet at all. There seems to be enough flex in most waders.

Never understood why it costs $200-300 more for a god**** zipper.... materials can't cost more than $20.. is it that much more labor?
@cachi-7878

Probably not the labor but they might require a different assembly line for them and they need to amortize it.

Seems like a lot yes Believe it or not though the raw cost on that YKK Waterproof Zipper is $100, plus the additional labor of attaching and sealing it all the way around.

hahaha. I get it. Wet feet on a remote camping trip does suck though. Not going to find me in Alaska on a campout without damn trustworthy waders though. I'm certainly not taking Orvis Clearwaters or Hodgman's on a big outing.
