Doesnt matter what ure squad selection is, the manager hasnt got the chops or knowhow to win this tournament, we start games like the managers personality to slowly, careful and boring. We need to be front foot high energy without the ball and on the press, which means risking playing a high line and getting our positioning right behind the frontline and so we regain the ball high up at source which will negate our deficiencies in defence and also help our attacking play, unfortunately gareth hasnt got the knowledge or kahunas to do this.

Totally agree with Simon. Southgate is a good manager and his record speaks for itself, only Capello has a better win percentage. BUT Southgate has an inclination towards conservative, risk-averse game management and it cost us against Croatia, and cost us again against Italy. In both those games the equalisers were coming for a long time and his reluctance to go for the coup de grâce cost us. I think the situation was a little different against France. Tchouaméni scored a worldie and Kane missed a penalty which were both highly unlikely occurrences. Kane misses about 10% of penalties and Tchouaméni only averages a goal every 15 games. We finished the game with a much higher XG and kept the best player in the world quiet. On another day we could've won that game 2-0 but these things happen in football. I'd just like to see us being more proactive and taking more risks, particularly if we find ourselves behind in a knock out game.
