Simon Fraser's Powder Horn medley at the Worlds

Күн бұрынThis is Simon Fraser University Pipe Band playing in the Friday qualifying heats in the Grade One competitions at the RSPBA's World Pipe Band Championships held on Glasgow Green on 17 August 2018. The band is playing under Pipe Major Alan Bevan and Lead Drummer J. Reid Maxwell. The band is based Based in Burnaby, British Columbia and is a musical ambassador for Simon Fraser University.

The Panda (Gordon Duncan)
I dreamed there was no war (orig. Glenn Frey of The Eagles)
A A Cameron (traditional)
The Smith's a Gallant Fireman (traditional)
The Bush Reel (Scott MacAulay)
Moving Cloud (trad. Irish, parts 3 & 4 by Hamish Moore, setting Robert Mathieson)

Aaron Kimzey Tommy Tully’s Air from SLOT is very good and one of my all time favorites, but this one is as well

I'm pretty sure it was transposed from the song by Eagles. It sounds so much nicer on pipes in my opinion

I thought it was an original composition, but I'll definitely look it up now! I also wish I could get my hand on this tune, it's such a nice slow air!

Best part of this med is the trad Strathspeys... The air is not bad, but maybe best left to Glen Frey of the Eagles... I like it when bagpipes play bagpipe music written by pipers; all that flashy polyrhythmic stuff is too fluffy for my taste... Give me UBR any day.

Wouldn't that also apply to bands like IDPB? Have they not opened with the tune 'William Grey' the past two years?

Judges could've chosen a different medley... Also on the sound, SFUPB practices on top of a mountain @ SFU in very different conditions... Inverary has the luxury of competing in a similar environment their instruments are used to playing in giving a more stable sound.
