the condor passes, it is the second hymn of peru, he is thanked for listening to Peruvian music. greetings from Lima.

El Cóndor Pasa is Spanish for "The Condor Passes." Its music was composed as part of a 1913 Peruvian musical play. Paul Simon wrote his own poetic English lyrics to the music. Simon sings the verses and Art Garfunkel sings the bridge. Thanks for the inspired reaction.

EL CONDOR PASA, is a peruvian zarzuela . it was composed by Daniel Alomia Robles, peruvian and huanuqueño composer. i feel so proud to be peruvian and that my parents are huanuqueños as Daniel.

I love their use of different instruments. I especially like the recorders - those are not easy instruments to play. I can only make them squeak! Art Garfunkel's lovely high tenor is just beautiful, too.

El Condor Pasa (If I Could). Taken apart and rebuilt for us here. Fascinating. Simon and Garfunkel would often record the basic track then the producer would add instrumentation later. Such was the recording system by some. Liked.

The key line of the song is “...if I only could”. It is from the perspective of the trapped person wishing to be free.

This song was highly featured in a movie with Desi Arnaz, Jr. titled, The Voyage Of The Yes....You should try the tune Homeward Bound....

The outstanding musical version is done native South Americans (Peru, Ecuador, etc.) which is done with pan pipes and flutes. I don't know the proper names for them.

As a child I love this song even though it was great sadness I knew we were all nails and that being a hammer was no better and now I fear that Passage may be biblical

Oh! hadn't quite reached the end of this video before I started my previous comment. I can say with absolute authority, I have no idea why the title of the song is in Spanish. The musical style had some influence from that culture, but I always put it down to the fact that Americans came from ALL cultures and thus, just do whatever the hell we want to do. (I think I'm wrong) (About the title!) :)
