I had been saying since the end of the summer that City board bottled the transfer window and given the obvious needs of the team after this fall, for them to still do nothing worries me. We spent somewhere in the area of £220m. I’m fine with Gvardiol (for future as a CB and not this LB nonsense) and Doku is a wildcard, but i think he could do well long term. Kova was a good squad pick up. But we never addressed our biggest issue: Rodri cover. I’d have preferred we went and spent an additional £40m more over Nunes to buy Kimmich. I can’t think of a better Gundo replacement utility player. Hell, if the board said okay to that but you’d have to drop Doku or Kova, I’d have been with that too. As for Pep, I wonder if he made a bet with someone that he could win the league by playing a 9 in the midfield? I mean there’s no logic behind IF selection is done on a meritocratic basis.
