In Chapter 1 of 23 in his 2013 Capture Your Flag interview, author and public speaker Simon Sinek answers "How Are Your Aspirations Changing As Your Experience Grows?" Sinek notes how early in his career his aspirations were about personal achievements and goals. With experience, Sinek shifts his focus to helping others grow and learn. He details why generosity and sincerity have been central elements in the transition and provides examples of why others should consider embracing them. Simon Sinek teaches leaders and organizations how to inspire people. Sinek is the author of two books, "Leaders Eat Last: Why Some Teams Come Together and Others Don't" and "Start With Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action". He is a public speaker, an adjunct professor at Columbia University and a Brandeis University graduate.

Nice 4 minutes of truth. It is what it is. Success culminates from the ability to improve and deliver the desired outcome. THis can only happen if the right people come together and create a team focused on the same mission. Thanks Simon.

Always amazes me how common sense is seen as wisdom, especially in our hemisphere. We teach our kids this, we are taught as children all this but we grow up and suddenly the dog eat dog mentality and the never ending appetite for more wealth becomes a way of life. Sometimes I notice the younger generation understanding this and deep inside want them to make it a better world, but I think I am wise enough to know that this nature can't be created in a capitalistic society. As a society we operate at such a low level of kindness and goodness, but have so much potential if it wasn't of the mighty dollar.

And what if we don't have a choice over who we work with?

mzrealm If I were you, my advice would be. Try to make the best out of it. In life you don't always get to choose who your colleagues are, your family, your boss. Only thing you can do is to Accept it as it is, go on with it. Try to level with those people, and with that I mean try to communicate with them like you want other people to talk to you. Be your best person you can be and treat them with respect. You never know when you'll meet them again, so what I would do is make a great impression, get them to like you and you will sow what you reap :)
