This is probably my favorite real talk so far. No tips, no how to, no be better... Just love and real humanity. I get soooo much out of this episode! This has been a before and after on my point of view about what is greatness. Thank you both so much for bringing this up and sharing! You both are great!

Simon is the best compassionate storyteller of 9-11, year’s later we can hear how events deeply changed his life- how priorities change going forward from that day forward!! I love him with all the heart he has for people(all people). We share a heartfelt empathy for people who struggle no matter a label placed upon that person! Doer’s are tired, poor and rich are lonely; being guarded is exhausting. His story reminds me of a soldier coworker; who had served in a foreign war; he described how incredibly distasteful to returning then encounter - us being unappreciative of ‘simplest meal’ and impatience in drive-thru! The contrast of kids cherished a candy bar to be split amongst 10 kids, a mother’s intense hug he received for a sandwich to feed her children and herself!

So much humanity spoken by this guest, I love it. We need more people like this in our world today. Thank you.

I feel like I haven't seen Simon in AGES. I appreciate that he's not preachy or trying to over-intellectualize the conversation to sound profound. The most intelligent people are also the most clear of thought.

I literally had goosebumps when Simon was describing 9/11 experiences… even after so many years it still has this indescribable effect

Listening to the 9/11 story reminds me of living through a natural disaster that killed 100s of people and destroyed my city, It was horrific. I got to my job as a nurse as soon as I could physically get there and did whatever I could amongst the chaos to care for the traumatised survivors. That day and the lessons I learned that day will never leave me and was a defining event that changed me. As hard and horrific that experience was, including suffering from PTSD afterwards, it taught me about what really matters and to live with gratitude and appreciate the blessings that I have in my life.

Very valuable discussion, I really appreciate Simon’s outlook on people and their worth. And the importance of humor and it’s timing. Thank you. He’s so open and willing to share himself in order to contribute good to the people around him so they learn and pass it on to others.

the lack of empathy is one of the many things of our society that 'eats me alive', it's pure horror and not how we are made or why we are made for (figure of speak), hugs from Belgium (it seems it's in loads of countries 😢).

For personal reasons, I especially loved the whole conversation on boundaries as it has soooo many practical lessons that were shared. Lewis was MASTERFUL as an interviewer. Kudos to you Lewis for helping to facilitate a truly insightful conversation! 👏🏽

Re: boundaries: boundaries helps you know someone more on a deeper and intimate level. It's part of who they are so if you want to know the totality of them, boundaries are included. (although totally understand how boundaries can be scary and foreign becasue in childhood setting a boundary with a parent probably got met with some not nice consequences so the association remains)

That is so true what Simon says about how “influencers are freelance employees of algorithms”. I notice on KZfaq when there must be a shift in the algorithms…”everyone” starts posting Shorts, or posting segments on certain topics, etc. I think it is sad in a way that they bow to an algorithm instead of doing what their heart and creative mind would rather do on their channels. Some may be fine with that, but as a creative, I won’t bow to an algorithm. (Granted, as a nano-influencer, I don’t rely on that income like they may.)

The Co-creating concept in relationships is amazing! It’s a central theme in couples counselling. The relationship is a huge part of the works focus. 😊

I question Simons observation on "getting a trophy for coming in last" thing. As a parent of a man with Autisim I can honestly say that I got my Seratonin hit when watching him compete in Special Olympics or just at the park. I could tell he got a hit of Seratonin when he crossed the finish line or bench pressed a barbell of steel over his head.

What if you try to set boundaries with someone, especially your partner, and you’re genuinely curious and open to what they want in the relationship and having a conversation but whenever you ask for their input they stone wall you, say “I don’t know” over and over…. ? Or change the subject and don’t want to talk at all…. ? Help!!!
