BUDWEISER HAS A DISC GOLF COURSE?! (with Eagle McMahon)

After a long day of signing discs and filming some promotion for the upcoming Discmania Mystery Box season, we had some time to go check out the ULTRA Disc Golf Park in Fort Collins, Colorado. This is one of the spontaneous "phone vlogs" so please excuse the lack of quality video and audio. But I thought this is possibly better than no vlog :) Hope you still enjoy the video!

it isn't that hard. I'm 5'4" and in my 40's and I can standstill over 350. Any athlete should be much better than me.

Ya, I was watching that throw frame by frame (pause then . and , keys on PC) and what I find interesting is how he folds the disc down so that his hand can whip closer to his body. I need to look at some other pros throw, but that seems new to me. I know some folks complain about occasionally hitting themselves in the chest. Guess that's the way to avoid it. Interesting that the release angle is still perfect though.

Caleb is an amazing golfer. He's constantly at league keeping up with eagle and i think it's pretty obvious to everyone in town that the kid is going places. I'm sure all of us will see him on tour in a short period of time. Envious, wish i could've been as good as him at his age.

Of course they have a disc golf course! The Anheuser-Busch company was founded by Adolphus Busch, whose father in law was a renowned disc golf world champion named Eberhard Anheuser. Anheuser of course popularized the two major shot shapes we use to this day over 150 years later. The word was later changed to something easier to spell : Anhyzer.

That kid can throw. I think growing up and starting your play in Colorado with the higher elevation, you really learn how to push discs further and overcome the more overstability. I grew up in Missouri but only played since living in Colorado. It definitely has taught me a lot playing here versus back home lol. Also props to the kid for putting with a Berg. Simon, Kasta is awesome!

I recently played in Colorado at Beaver Ranch (8,900ft elevation) and it was seriously like throwing in a 30mph tailwind back here in TN. It was humbling to say the least.

Like Simon, really didn't think of that. I played this course and Edora while I was in town for a concert. Felt like either my form or discs were not flying the way they should. My Tactic always dropped quicker. Came back home and flew like they always do.

I didn't know Caleb's name till this year, but I've seen him around Boulder for years and referred to him as mini Eagle. He's looked up to Eagle and literally dressed like him head to toe - same shoes, etc. Being a super fan and supporter of your local elite pro is great, but even better to see him growing into being an elite competitor. Awesome to see him on the vlog, bet he was over the moon.

Thanks for your kind words. Caleb was invited to hang out for the day with Eagle and Simon and had a great time. This vlog was icing on the cake. And he held his own on the course! :)

Believe it or not Budweiser has already been a sponsor of disc golf. They sponsored Worlds in the 80s and perhaps early 90s. Maybe an old head out there can remember more specifics.

Disc Golf had Budweiser as a sponsor in the 1980's for the world championships at one point 1986 to 1989 but more the local distributor and everyone was drinking the Budweiser Caned water or some few had a Budweiser/Bud light at the event as well as the canned water who was playing in the event while everyone else was drinking Budweiser/Bud light they were selling to people. Then when the PDGA Tour happened in 2000's the Woodchuck cider was the official alcoholic drink for the events until 2010 when they moved to a different alcoholic drink brand Leinenkugel's.

Seeing Eagle grip the forehand put me in disbelief, then when it came out of his hand it brought a tear to my eye. I've molded all of my forehand technique off of his tip videos and to see a slower version of his original aggressive forehand and it's still clean and flying forever gives me so much hope to see him again in 2023. Time to switch up the technique again

Love my home of Colorado. Those mountains are something else to play disc golf next to. The mountain air makes for some stable throwing but its worth it for the environment.

So why is Budweiser not the official beer sponser of the PDGA? Not that we'd necessarily need another water sponser but if they have a disc golf course at their facility, it only makes sense. I don't see a soccer field but they're the beer sponsor of the World Cup

And longs peak is also the tallest peak in RMNP! That mountain is my view out of my cabin in Estes Park! Eagle hit me up when you want to climb it, we can hike right out of my cabins front door!

I've got a few friends who live in Fort collins! Horse head is a pretty cool hiking spot in the area. Yall are awesome! I hope to spontaneous come across ysll on a course some day! Much love!
