When you close the aperture on your camera lens, why is the image not cropped out? And what does aperture have to do with how much is in focus in your picture?
In this explainer video, I demonstrate these concepts by using drawings and real life demonstrations.
You will also learn why a low aperture number on a lens equates to a wide open aperture, and vice versa (hint - they are fractions, and the number people usually use is the denominator of that fraction).
After watching this, you should be able to predict which aperture setting will get you the most pleasing bokeh (blurriness) in the background (another hint: it's the lower numbers).
