I've been meaning to build this beer line cleaner for a while. It works fantastic and should help simplify the beer line cleaning process. MAKE SURE you buy the exact pump sprayer that only Home Depot carries. Do not get one from Lowes as they are not the same type of threading. The brass piece is a 3/8" MIP/3/8" Flare brass fitting. It is in the plumbing section of most Home Depot stores. I hope this helps! Also, the link to the ball lock liquid post that fits the fitting is below. Cheers!

Thanks for putting this video together. I had made one of these years ago based on a thread (probably the same one you read) and had introduced it to my home brew club the other day. I'll be sharing this video on our club's site today for those that want to make their own. Well done!

Thanks much for your help here. Just finished my first keg in my home built keezer and was wondering what to do next to get ready for the next brew that is ready to go. And along came Mr. Brew-Q. A cheap and simple solution for a cheap and simple system and a cheap and simple guy. Worked like a charm. Thanks again!

Cheers for the idea!! I live in Australia so no Wallmart. went to Bunnings (hardware store) got similar sprayer for less than $5. sanded a bit of the thread off the end with a dremmel and forced a spare beer post on it. works mint and no leaks. had to chuck the brass fan adjust nozzle in so the poppet spring has something to press on.

I want to add that I prefer your method over trying to push cleaner trough the top. Seems much easier that taking the tap apart.I don’t know of any way to make the connector that hooks onto the keg stay open to push cleaner through the top.

+Jeff Vivrette Sorry about that! I updated the link to the post you need. It is a 5/8" - 18 for the threading and spacing. Hope that helps!

Just wanted to mention that the brass coupler seems to have been discontinued by Watts. The equivalent part is made by Everbilt, and maybe worth a try. I’ll report back if I get it. But I’m a little concerned about a different thread count…

Made one these about a year ago and love it. Great idea!! One thing that’s been concerning to me recently is that pretty much all the chemical tanks you buy at HD or Lowe’s are not food grade or FDA approved. I’ve ran about 15 cleanings through mine and it still has a unique chemical smell that won’t go away. Also there’s a warning label on the tank basically saying the tank material is only intended for pesticides and may contain lead or chemicals known to cause cancer. I might revert back to the old school cleaning method. Then again, what doesn’t cause cancer nowadays

I think I am going to try this. Someone mentioned to find an adaptor with the correct thread type but I doubt that every conceivable combination of thread type and male/female size is manufactured. You mentioned that the size on the bottle is 3/8 but what size and thread is the male size that goes into the connector? I just checked Home Depot and they don’t seem to list the adaptor as LFA-176. Other things come up that seem different.
@TheBrewQ
@TheBrewQ 2 жыл бұрын
Here’s the link to the adaptor you’ll need. Home Depot still sells it and I would assume they always will. Cheers! Your friend has shared a link to a Home Depot product they think you would be interested in seeing. www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-3-8-in-Flare-x-3-8-in-FIP-Brass-Adapter-Fitting-801499/207176791

where do u live where beer taps look like that? Those connectors are used for cocktails in the us.
@TheBrewQ
@TheBrewQ 6 жыл бұрын
The taps in questions are called Perlick taps. They are an upgrade from standard taps as they don’t stick if not used for a few days. You are probably used to seeing standard taps.

Wouldn't it just be easier to get an electric pump and have it push a cleaning solution through it? Followed by Sanatizer?
@TheBrewQ
@TheBrewQ 7 жыл бұрын
+Thomas Joseph indeed it would. This was just a cheap and simple way to pump cleaner through your lines to clean them. Not a bad idea for an upgrade tho!

plumber's tape is for lubrication, not sealing. in this application it's fine, but people shouldn't be using it to seal liquid lines, it WILL degrade and leak. The seal is formed by the threads locking together, and too much tape can prevent that from happening. Better to get an adapter made to step your threads to where they need to be.
