A few tips. If you use two more carribeeners on your straps you can clip in then walk to the other tree and your good. On your tarp you can use prussics slip knots on your tarp ridge line. This will allow you to hook up to one tree and then walk to the other. The slip knots allow to center your tarp. Some hacks that may help. :)

Nice tutorial. Definately the way to go for the hammock setup. For the the ridge line, try just going around the tree once and tie two half hitches snugged up to the tree. For the tightening end, think about using the bite of the line when tying off at your trucker's hitch, especially the half hitch that prevents the knot from slipping. This really helps when you untie a ridge line that is under a lot of tension. Which is likely if you tie your line tight enough to prevent tarp sag.👍

Sweet rig Alex, thank you for the mention, glad I could help, on your tarp set up,did you attach the tarp to the ridgeline at all, if not a suggestion my friend, use what's called a prussick knot , basically, 2 loops of paracord (lots of videos on this,better than i can explain lol), or shoelaces as Jim-Bob outdoors does (did a very good video on this recently ), one either side of your tarp, I keep mine fixed on the ridge line, tarp over the ridgeline, then you position the knots either side of the tarp, I use sml carabiners to attach the prussick knot to the tab on the tarp, pull tight, and itll be a super solid setup 👍, brilliant video mate, always happy to help, good health and safe travels my friend,blessed be,Craig

Nicely done Alex :-) The daisy chain around the tree was just right...the strap should be coming off the side of the tree, not centered which can create wear/stress points that act like a saw when there is weight and movement in the hammock. This is more important when using metal fittings but a good habit to stay in :-) I'm by no means an expert but a few things that I picked up when I started hammocking, if I may, that may be of use to others: 1) Use a crochet hook to thread the continuous loop through the ends of the hammock to make it easier and less fiddly. 2) If you want to lift the hammock up higher you really need to move the straps up the tree, not up the daisy chain or it will be too tight. Ideally you want a ridgeline of 83% of your hammock for the ideal sag for sleeping, with your foot end slightly higher than the head end.

Nice one. Also got the DD Frontline but XL great Hammock. Now due to you I've ordered two a continuous loop's. ;-) As for the Daisy Chains i was going to buy a set but then decided to use the webbing from the Hammock. Doubled and tied to make it into a Daisy Chain. Got the idea from Isle of White Bushcraft. Oh and as it happens i recently won a full DD Setup :-) Spoilt for choice now lol

Great demo Alex and some really helpful advice. I’ve never tried a hammock before but I think I’ll add it to my to do list for future experiences. I suppose we should all try things at least once (things that are legal obviously 🤣). You’re definitely a natural in front of the camera and very watchable 👍

Just to let you know when not using bug net swing hammock upside down so the net is on the underside and then sit in hammock doing it your way you'll damage the net

You what would lighten up your hammock set up by quite a bit is simply replacing those steel carabiners with some light weight aluminium carabiners. The 12 kn versions you find on Amazon are perfect as they will easily support your weicht while weing in at only .73 oz. and can support over 2,600 lbs.
