Simple if you own a mini machine shop ,(welder, assorted files, band sander, metal cutting band saw) From retailer: 304 SS (will not rust like this one) heavy duty latch that works basically the same, 6 holes to drill, 6 bolts/nuts - less than $12.00 plus tax.

You could do the same thing with basically just a grinder, a welder, and a drill and it'd probably be faster. You're right though, the only reason to do this is if you want to make it yourself.

Curious to know why when you tightened the vise onto the saw, you turned it to the left. I've never seen a vice with left hand threads. Maybe I've led a sheltered life?

Mejor comprarlo sale más caro todo el tiempo,no solo hay que tener las herramientas necesarias si no que tener el conocimiento de saber usarlas y no todos podríamos hacerlo.Pero si muy buena idea.👍

Boa noite, achei a ideia interessante, vi o video e ao ver a planta, notei que ha falta de cotas e quantidade das peças usadas, como ideia foi magnifico, mas se o que vai produzir a tal fechadura ou trinco nao for desenvolto, nao sai do papel. podia ate dar uma melhorada em relaçao a localizaçao dos furos e rasgos para valer um belo 10 com louvor

since the bottom part is just for the padlock would a hole work instead of a big cutout?

Yes. A simple hole will be more secure too. With the slot the bottom can bent to remove the lock.

Jamas escribo para criticar estas artesanias pero eso solo sirve para que el perro no salga a la calle supongo que lo pondran en una puerta de chapa cerrada porque rn in porton de rejas cualquiera mete la mano y levanta el pestillo ahora comprar una cerradura tampoco es tirarla asi nomas hay que trabajar bastante para ponerla en un porton

Con esa herramienta no cuesta nada hacerla. Lo que si cuesta comprar es la herramienta y si es mejor comprarla ya hecha. Jaja.

GBC!!!! get a length of 1/2 in. x 3/16 strip ,Bend in half (like an hairpin ) flatten on anvil with 1/4 in. between to give clearance ,bend "L" ears at ends with scru holes now bend up an horseshoe of 3/4 x3/16 strip ,drill 1 end ,twist 90 at other end drill holes thru "hair pin close to "L"end put "horseshoe" between & rivet in place...thats the catch ! now another strip on gate to lift "horseshoe" as gate closes ...padlock thru horseshoe if desired......no cutting, welding ...just boring boring & bending ..get a life!! draw it on paper if you don't GETTIT

Tiene puntos débiles. El eje menor es uno de ellos (muy fino su diámetro) Nada aconsejable. Se abre de una simple patada. El propio mecanismo hace de guillotina y lo corta (a los ejes). Saludos y buena semana para todos.

Estimado, el objetivo de ese trabajo es proporcionar un método rápido de cierre de la puerta, lo cual se cumple plenamente en forma satisfactoria para mí. Para la seguridad de la puerta abajo del cierre rápido veo dos piezas con orejas donde colocar un candado.

A ver.....a ver....!!!! Estás mostrando la forma " económica " de hacer un seguro de puerta...??? O la cantidad de herramienta , tan solo para hacer un simple corte de " solera " ...? Aquí en cdmx, se hace con un simple arco con segueta. Tu forma " económica " de hacer un simple corte se torna " multimillonaria " , si de exagerar se trata. Lo único bueno, para mí gusto, es tu herramienta, de ahí en fuera tu tutorial es totalmente un fiasco...es más barato comprar uno ya echo en la refaccionaria, que exagerando , uno de buena calidad tiene un costo de no más de cien pesos mexicanos...!!!! Que cosas no???
