#simpleken Heyy Kenny! I'm 21, and because of social media I feel like there's this pressure to do soo much in little time, I'm just 21 and my whole life is ahead of me But social media makes you feel like you haven't experienced anything , haven't started earning , haven't seen the world , haven't gone on trips w friends etc etc And I seem to have to keep reminding myself that I'm still 21 and the people I'm watching or following are well in their 30s . Did you feel the same or do you still feel similar? What is the one thing you would like to tell me or any 21 year old out there? Love your new episode! Keep em coming 💪 It's okay if you're busy , post once a month we'll be here waiting 💯 #simpleken

I feel the same. And I'm 28. Social Media is that kind of thing, where you get to see only the best versions of everyone's life. It's very natural to get affected by it. I feel old, when I see a 21-year old having 100k followers influencing a lot of people in a good way and doing great work...that I wanted to do and I know I am not skillful enough to do that. But everyone of us need to understand the fact that everyone has a different definition of 'success', and one should go after the definition they want to live in. Becoming a better version of yourself will give you more confidence and security than competing with some strangers in social media. That's what I keep telling myself.
@sidharthsmenon1719
@sidharthsmenon1719 3 жыл бұрын
Yep, we've all been there tbh. What you've highlighted here is one of the most off-putting, yet common side effects of social media. However, it's a great start that you are well aware of the fact that you are still quite young and have a long way to go in life, very much in contrast to the people you follow who are much older than you and are presumably "well settled" in life and are having the "time of their lives". I put that in quotes cuz social media posts can be very superficial and deceiving at times (most of the time, really) and it barely provides a true reflection or insight into what someone's really upto. Infact, the sole purpose of these posts is to simply create that "I'm having so much more fun than you" or "I've got this whole life thing figured out and I'm achieving much more than you" vibe, which is more often imposed, rather than an actual legit vibe. Ik it's easy to say but you will be better off evaluating yourself based on your current position and the progress you're making towards achieving your goals rather than comparing yourself to the people who simply talk the talk and don't walk the walk online (the majority). But if you're finding it difficult to do so, then it really wouldn't hurt to take a break off social media and utilise that time to reflect on yourself. Trust me, I've done it in the past and it's been super helpful. It's initially tough to resist opening your insta or whatever, but you gradually get the hang of it. Also, ik I ain't Kenny 😂 but I really felt that I could give a decent answer to this cuz it's something that I've gone through myself and overcome too. Hope it helps ✌️.

I am in fact in the exact opposite situation where I am handling all my expenses at 21. Like giving fees for my master's program and owning the clothes I wear at home. Yet, my parents don't stop looking for suitable grooms It's like I NEED TO REMIND THEM AGAIN & AGAIN that OH HELLO I am still 21! What do you suggest should I start acting like a kid? then they might see me as a younger person?

#simpleken "Put foot in one's mouth" - the expression actually originated sometime in the 1800s. It is said that it derived from the expression "to put one's foot in it", which also literally means to step in shit., therefore, indicating you stepped on trouble. To "put feet in mouth" is to say something embarassing which thereby gets you into trouble. And now, you know where the phrase comes from. Love the long recording of you talking!

I could REALLY REALLY connect to your concept of "actually listening". I haven't read any book or article or studies on it, but I have realized it on my own with age, with the experience of conversing with lots & lots of people. that is soooooo true that many of us stay mumm just to prepare an answer, while we are not really listening to the other person.

Hey Kenny! Huge fan of the long recording of talking💕 #Simpleken You said that we should not try to prepare the answer to what a person says and just listen and I completely agree but then how do we make the person understand that they are being acknowledged and we are genuinely listening? Because most probably the first thought that would come to someone's mind if we're silent is that we are thinking about something else. BTW I too lovee the way you say "tata bye bye"😂❤

It makes me feel like it's okay to feel a certain way which earlier I felt wasn't normal. I want to know when do you know it's time to get professional help? We always keep telling ourselves that whatever is happening is okay and we have to be strong enough to deal with it but sometimes even though you calm yourself but there's no solution to what was bothering you. #simpleken love and appreciate these long recordings. My question is - Are you what you feel or what you chose to do? A crude example can be : say one has been working really hard towards a particular goal but someone else achieved it by doing much less. It is human to 'feel' dejected at whatever magnitude, but one would never try to 'do' anything to sabotage the other person's achievement in any way, much less make them feel like you feel anything but happy for them. So then are you defined by what you chose to do despite how you feel? If so don't you think that's a little murky? Looking forward to your episode with Tara, hope you have a great day :)

@samriddhikumarr

- To actually listen, you don't prepare answers instead you focus on finding more clarity or a detail you didn't understand. You aren't a "really good listener" if you say you are out loud like bruh not sometjing you boast about, it just naturally shows in your personality. - Stop expecting the reactions you want from other people, everyone's perspectives different when someone is having a bad day maybe You being a part of their day meant alot to them and hence they say it out loud and appreciate You. Sometimes when I haven't spoken to a friend because I genuinely struggle with being happy and I'm anxious more than happy at this age, I do feel like talking to a friend and feel indebted to them for just listening and making me feel good when they don't see it like that. And that's okay. You always make me take something (s) from an episode Kenny or it reminds me of certain people who are and aren't in my life & that's why I love it so much. I was with my 25 yo cousin sis for a week & (me being 20) I kept talking about how I feel really clueless about what path am I really taking in my career.. I don't have shit figured out.. What's my purpose... What makes me really happy... But your first job or second job isn't about it making you happy, you just have to accept that you need to be independent & on the side make lil efforts to make yourself happy in that "unhappy per say job environment" and my sis literally told me, "Bro chill, even I don't have things figured out. I haven't done anything great. ( to me she's super inspiring but then again everyone has their own perspectives- she's graduated from Cept travelled all over Europe, worked around and is a badass Graphic Designer - you can find her work on ig - orodhono) So just take each and everyday as it comes. Don't be so hard on yourself. You will find your thing." And I just hugged her and got emotional & felt really blessed to have her. #simpleken

#simpleken Hey Kenny, I really like your long recordings, and it's okay if you don't do it often. I am writing this after pausing this video, I started thinking when you shared your example of being in a relationship and holding hands or physical affection is a big deal and stuff, I really like how people share their experiences of being in a relationship or things they like or dislike about being with someone but honestly I don't know how does it feel to be in a relationship with someone. I do crave for it alot. I am 25 and never dated anyone and never being loved or liked by someone in a romantic way and don't know the feeling. I really do feel left out all the time, and doubt myself that what's wrong with me, why I have kept my self covered with some strong wall and never let myself come out of it or let anyone to break it. I see everyone has been in atleast one relationship till they are 25, unlike me. I always think is it okay to be single and feel anxious about being single and ruining my time like that when I am supposed to be having such experiences? Is it okay to not liked by anyone and "never had a relationship" kind of a girl?

Hey Kenny, you are absolutely right about people not giving enough credit to people who kept it afloat all those years. Instead people keep appreciating 2 day wonders. I think if one can have the habit of being thankful that they have made it so far, that slight degrade that people get when they see these wonders can be balanced a little bit. A flip of thought process can bring huge optimism and self motivation.

Thank you for #simpleken... My father wanted to me to become a police officer or write any government exams for government job. And I didn't do any of that. According to my father I'm a disappointment and useless human being. Not that I'm blaming him... He is great to alot of people. But by this fact on lack of father son relationship. I'm scared that I may become a father like him one day. For that fact, I don't want to be married and make a new life to suffer like I did ... So I decided to live alone. So that no one will get hurt. I have been jealous on you and some other guys who had fathers like friends. Do you think I need professional help or I'm having good common sense to live peacefully without disturbing anyone.... I personally get motivated and feel good after watching the full episode. Thank you for doing, what you are doing now...

Hi..I am definitely not an expert in this. But having a quite similar experience with my mother, I would like to suggest you do visit a therapist and talk about the negative feelings you are having. Even though it seems quite unnecessary sometimes, these feelings which come into ur mind from incidents or words from others, especially ur parents definitely affects us in ways we don't want to continue to affect our lives. So give it a try...to not carry forward the negative thoughts, and lead a fulfilling life. Bcz ur major life decisions shouldn't definitely be made from negative experiences of life ryt..u deserve to lead a complete happy and healthy life :) all the best 👍

Hello Kenny, hearing and watching you in the podcast is really a treat! Few times I heard you talking about Jim Carry and being a Big Jim's fan myself, would really like to know your journey of knowing, liking, admiring and eventually considering him too much (please excuse me if I misunderstood that you think he's too eccentric). Just talk about Jim Carry, Please. #simpleken

I really liked what you said about motivation...that it's hard, that the brain likes to expend the least amount of energy as possible. I've read up on the relevant topics (and how easy it is to habituate to novel stimuli), and yet I forget.

Hi Kenny. I hope you are doing great! I just wanted to put up a request. Could you please do a long recording of you talking with Jay Shetty. I'm sure it will be a great episode even if you both just spoke on one topic. And also, if possible, please get Kanan Gill for your next Chai time episode (When you are ready to do it). Love from Hyderabad. #simpleken

This is like some classy art thing, like first you just come across and be like oh its not like the regular things, and then like i dont know whats so lit about this but then you slowly start watching and you are like, holyyy this is the shittt, not so over hyped or volatile by tonality and all just simple content with a little seasoning of comedy and right in the plate, dammmm fun to watch it

I watched the episode. I feel like u directly talk to me. Most of the things in the episode were so relatable about not expecting too much from ppl cuz it ultimately leads to our disappointment and how to just try to listen to ppl.. I'm glad you're doing this. Also throughout the episode a thought was running through my mind that what will happen if He (you) stop doing this recording?!.

Wow Kenny I just realized you are great at giving advice or your opinion or your perspective ( whichever you prefer) #simpleken needed to be made. I know you are not a professional, but sometimes friendly chats can be more healing than any therapy. So as I always say: Love YOU for being YOU : ) Stay healthy, happy and blessed with your family. P.S please say hi to your Dad and wish him good health,

hey kenny! Couldn't agree more with your ending 5 minutes. I was weirdly distracted by the plain white wall in your background...my mind kept decorating it. lol. Nice to see Simple ken today since i just binge watched both seasons of Comicstaan. You seem to be good at mentoring too. Your weeks were hilarious! My question - Have you ever heard arguments taking place in your neighbours house ? Like loud enough for you to hear it all? I feel like i shouldn't listen but im curious too. I know its not my problem what goes on in their house. You think i should take more effort to not listen ? is it my responsibility to not listen? What do you think? #simpleken

#simpleken hey kenny, hope ur doing well, I am a 12th student navigating my way through this pandemic with online classes and your long recordings of you talking have kept my sanity together. This has been the most confusing chapter of my life and I’m sure u will understand the frustration of students who are losing their final year of school. Any comforting words from you to all of us 12th graders might be helpful idk but anyways thank you for all the guidance u have given me through these podcasts.

I made my mom listen to this episode and she's not so fluent in English and she kept nudging me to speak like kenny. And she understood some of it and said that he's loved by everyone for one basic reason, he's not plastic and speaks just like an everyday conversation, due to which he instantly connects! Thank you #Simpleken

Kennny! Hi :D I love the simplicity you bring in your conversations, it's just like sitting and listening to one of your comfy-chuddy buddy-wise friend. The friend will be no big deal while speaking but they will always leave you stimulated with some thoughts. This time it was about how we should look at consistency. Thankyou for that! My question for #simpleken : I really want to know how do you look at travelling. I mean what kind of a traveller are you? You know like what are the things which matter to you when you are exploring a new place. Also if you really liked someplace what would make you travel there once again?
