I'd love to watch a video of you just sitting around in the cabin, looking out of the windows at the snow, putting another log in the stove and maybe cooking a typical meal . My favorite part of this video was you just sitting on the front porch drinking a cup of something out of a mug watching whats going on around you. Taking the plunge into the pond was just crazy!

It’s so quite there. Love it.

My house is 8600' in the mountains east of Taos NM. It's a timber-frame, super-insulated, and bordering Carson National Forest. Used to be be just my wife and I in the winter. The first few years we snowshoed in from the road. We gradually eliminated propane and then we decided to stop making fires because of the emissions. I moved down into town last January -- couldn't keep moving snow because of lower back pain. These videos remind of our first years up in the mountains. From age 65 to 79 I cleared snow, sometimes covering the top wire of the barbed wire fence. We cut our own wood harvesting downed logs from the forest. Kept warm with passive solar and occasional fires in our Morso stove. My wife said those were the happiest years of her life. I guess mine too. She died a couple years ago, but these films stoke the memories.

I put a passive heat system in my cabin . About 4 tons of stone gravel and clay . Copied it off of some Dragon stove designs I saw . One fire a day keeps it toasty for 12 to 14 hours with minimal wood used ! Russians have used the same tech for centuries !
