As the old saying goes, "Look to your laurels, girls". Broadway's current "critics' darlings" (Audra, Jessie, Sutton, Kelli) will soon be competing against the New Wave of Great Theater Talent. And don't be surprised if Alexa Wildish is front and center among the contenders who succeed - if this COLLEGE performance is any indication. (And no, I am NOT her father, friend or agent - just a 30 year theater critic who has seen A LOT of theater).

my high school is ddoing this show for our spring musical and I'm Lizzie! i'm super excited but really nervous b/c i've never done a love scene like this before! it also seems very awkward with the whole i'm pretty thing, like i can't understand why she's crying (when i say she i mean lizzie lol) but i guess i'll figure it out!

Keep it simple……conversational. Do NOT overact. It´s a play…..not an opera. Talk some of the lyrics. Don’t over sing either. Watch it with the smiling too much. Lizzie is not a terribly happy/satisfied woman. Not sad….-but unfulfilled at the moment. Starbucks paints fantastical pictures…..and this song explains that those fantastical things are not what she wants. During her song, she envisions her very simple…..and satisfied life.

@rockgor I totally agree! I performed "Try to Remember" in a show once, and it was such a great song! I've also done other classics like "I've Got Rythm" and "Soon it's Gonna Rain." But this performance blew me away! I sang "is it really me" from this show, but couldn't get my voice to sound anything like this actress's. With a voice like that, she should've gone to WCC instead! :)
