Neat method. I bet it would be pretty cool to try this with invisible UV paint. In fact I think you could do a lot of things with that, pools of acid, brighter lava, ghosts. All you'd need is UV paint and a black light.

So this is going to sound psychotic, but I used to make these out of bluetac on my girlfriend's dashboard. Over a year or so, we filled about half the dash with a tiny mushroom garden.

A slightly better option would be to delay cutting the toothpicks down in size until after priming (and possibly painting) by using the other end of the toothpick to stick it into some foam, then cut them a bit long and use one of the hobby drills (if you want the really cheap option, they tend to be about $2 if you look in the isles of the craft store aimed at doll houses) to make a small hole to stick the end in with the pva glue

Before applying the glue, I wonder if using butter will make it easier to remove the caps? When applying the glue, you can use a pencil to remove the excess glue by spinning the pencil, so you don't need to glue your hand ;)
@BardsCraft
@BardsCraft 4 жыл бұрын
With the paper we used the caps came off easily. But probably depends on the brand 🤔

@@BardsCraft I learned a trick today. Apply hot glue to a sheet of plastic, cover it with another sheet, then use something to flatten it, and wait until it's cold and dry. You can now remove the glue from the sheets and cut the glue in any format you wish!

Either you have better tin foil or I did something wrong, because I couldn't get them off the TF. Used PAM on the second batch on the TF and no issue

Perhaps your hot glue is too strong

I had this problem as well. I found using a glass plate or saucer sprayed lightly with PAM to work quite well. I love Bard's Craft's way of making them, but I think my glue is too strong, too.

Bit strange but I had some real issues getting the hot glue off the foil within a few hours, not sure why mine simply didnt peel off. Whoops XD

Would this work to make the caps for larger mushrooms? I was thinking of some line of sight blocking terrain pieces.
