Good score on the JD riding lawn mower! That machine is a big step up from the push mower and you can still get parts. You will enjoy it. My advice, any lawn equipment that Sara will drive is a good investment. If she enjoys it, mowing may well be a needed break from motherhood, and give you more time to be directly involved with your child during their early stages of life. At least that is what worked for my wife and I.

Kyle, if you can afford it, add a brick or stone fireplace within the new addition, trust me, you'll gain extra floor/wall space to the new addition. Get a few estimates from contractors that specialize in installing brick or stone fireplaces. You won't regret it. That's what I would do.

Can’t believe how quickly the addition is coming along

Very nice addition to your house. With all those windows you have a great view of the surrounding woods. I used that same brand to replace the windows in my old house 3 years ago and am very pleased with the results. The house stays toasty warm, even at 30 below. It's so much fun watching your videos and am amazed at how fast you progress on all of your projects. It's always fun watching what Skeeter's doing, too. Great dog.

Betcha Skeetor slept like a puppy (pun intended) after chasing that riding mower around all day. 😄 We’re north east of you in Ontario, and also have a happy dog that enjoys living in the country off-leash. On a busy ATV day it’s all Obie can do to stay awake after dinner. Loves chasing the ATV!

That new addition is going to make the house really cool. The baby will have lots of space to learn to walk in that open area. The other property you bought looks nice too. Aside from those pesky little black flies. YIKES! You got yourself a John Deere riding lawn mower. Nothing Beats a Deere!

You should look into a rocket mass heater which drastically reduces wood usage and keeps the temperature pretty stable

Great spot to for a large opening from the original cabin to the new. Makes it much easier for the wood stove to heat more evenly. There's nothing like wood stove heat and windows that open. Ha Ha! Lookin good kid! Grab a file and sharpen the blades!

U are a good working carpenter! I am surprised you don’t work for some bones around that area! U understand angels , supports, loads, framing of course, cutting windows ect.,. U do hv to make sure to flash those windows? Overtime ( not a few yrs) stuff shirks and moves and water finds its way in! Therein lies the beauty of flashing ! Glad I found you! I am an older finish carpenter/ contractor! Glad to see your starting a family ! Church? That life gives you the backbone of the family longevity!

I have never seen tape applied like that in the corners. All the others I watched, who didn't, made me wonder why they left that potential gap. Congrats on getting dried in. Such a great accomplishment in such a short time. You sure bust ass when you get your mind set to do something!

If you want AC, you could always get a mini split heat pump. They are very efficient and can cool the house very quickly plus take humidity out of the house. They sell them with a DIY install which is very easy to install.

Additional: right size, give you so much more room! Nice southern exposure with sun coming in! Nice! Insulate, vapour barrier, boarding to do yet. Pace yourself hard work is done now👍

Hey Mr Kyle, Love that little John Deere. Those were really good mowers back in the day! You Sir are one Daw-gone Good carpenter, That cabin is lookin' Mighty Fine!

The windows are also an escape route if fire blocks the doors. Always have windows that open! I never stay in any hotel etc where the windows don’t open. My friend’s body was found underneath a window that didn’t open in an Alaskan cabin fire.

Here's a suggestion Kyle since you are going to cover the ply in new room cut a section of ply out behind the outlet to make it easier to run the wire down to the crawl space
