Vivian, I quite understand your plight. They are very very wiley, they have nt been around for several thousand years for no reason. My tips; I its as bad as you say, use rat poison , if you're allowed to. 2) set traps , or rather don't set them, using bait that they know or are accustomed to, they will not eat a new bait. 3) Have you seen the electric zappers? they are dear but maybe an option. Also the Victor electronic killer is said to be quite good. 4) A dear business I know but dont try to use 1 trap..... or two. Use bloody hundred of the things. Don't set them to star with, just but bait in them and let them get use to taking the bait. 5) don't be tempted to try using cider vinegar ..... it doesn't wk. 6) urine from predator may have some effect 7) urine from humans has limited effect. 8) don't forget that they will not be accepted into another nest. They will be killed and eaten by their own. Its that nest or know where else. 9) don't expect expect instant or quick or immediate results. 10) they will not go ina trap in my experience so I would look at the ones that gas or kill with out use of an enclosure. 11) consider an air gun with IR sights. I would if I had the cash. 12) look at the "ratting" videos on youtube and ask yourself if that's for you. A hungry dog will eat one whole........ how does that sound?

Dear Mr Farmer, thank you for your detailed reply to my comments and plea for help. The problem is not with the traps but in getting the rats attracted to the bait. As mentioned I have watched rats walk directly over the rat poison cakes, and all the other bait materials listed in the many videos. These rats do not show the slightest interest in the baits used in Western countries and as they are not killed over here the situation is totally different. The local pest control sells rat bait that they claim rats find irresistible . This is totally false as the rats merely walk leisurely over these cakes as they do over all the other baits. Rats cause a 40% loss of all food produced in the country and despite this enormous loss, rats are worshipped and the rat temple houses some 30,000 rats and the presiding goddess is known as Karni Matta whose image has a body of a human female with a face resembling that of a dog and legs and feet of some unknown species. Whenpeople somehow manage to catch a rat in their flat they do not kill it but merely release it to enable it to enter the neighbors flat.The magnitude of the rat problem is such that it is not referred to for fear of offending someone’s religious sentiments. Vivian, (Mr Astridge Mrs Astridge?) So even if you extinguish ALL the Rodenets in your place your neighbour will put another one in to take it's place.... I don't want to sound defeatist but if th rat temple houses 30,000 rats arent you fighting a losing battle? Move country , (though this one aint much better ..... I'm afraid some of the rodents an take a human form .......that's another matter). YOu tell me there are 30 000 rats next door .....or effectively...... if it was me i'd be questioning my choice of residence of abode or domain. Depending on our ethical you feel towards your fellow living thing, I ahve heard that if you do capture one, stick itin a bucket for a week (ie without food) , then let it out, it will see it's way to eating most of the rats around. edit 30,000 is pushing it, even for a hungry rat....

Dear Mr Farmer. Thank you again for your reply. It is not that the neighbors put their rats into my place but rather they release them so that they could find their way back into my place or someone else’s. I find it totally insanely absurd that with 40% of the nation’s food being eaten by rats that the government does nothing about it. A stiff penalty or imprisonment should be imposed upon people who do not kill rats or release them into residential areas. But nothing is done. And nothing will be done as most of the Government are snake worshippers or cow worshippers and cannot be expected to punish rat worshippers. The temple and the description of the rat goddess with her pictures and her rats may be accessed in Google. The population also worships snakes and snake temples are very common. But these temples do not actually house snakes but only stone or metal images of snakes, Once a year snakes are carried about the country and are fed milk(snakes cannot drink any liquids) and cash offerings made to them. For an extra fee one is allowed to pet the snake on the head. All of these snakes are cobras as this is the type that is worshipped , Country wide there must be millions of cobras taken out to be worshipped. I have not heard of any one being bitten by these snakes. I was amused at your mentioning that some people turn into rats or some rats turn into people. As far as my own experience, would indicate, having lived and worked in the US, and Australia and visited European countries. All politicians the world over, most lawyers , most financial institutions, most agents, brokers and most business people are rats and not just ordinary soft, brown rats but teeth baring, hissing black sewer rats ! !I wish you the very best Sir and thank you for your comments.
