My hubby and I switched to Simple after using a variety of other products, spanning Nivea Soft, Clean and Clear, Palmers, etc etc etc...his eye allergies have disappeared and my sinus allergies have disappeared. His very dry skin loves the rich moisturiser, while my sensitive/oily/acne prone is in perfectly good health. PETA approved logo helps me sleep at night, and my bank account is in a healthier place as I ONLY buy these, and not a gazillion others.

Great video, Abbey. I'm so glad you point out that while Simple's line of skincare doesn't contain the most common irritating/sensitizing ingredients used, that doesn't mean they are the best products available. I've been semi-suspicious of most brands that use the "clean"/"natural" marketing angle, ever since my scalp had terrible reactions to the "Yes To Cucumbers" shampoo (which thankfully has been discontinued for a long time now). The Free and Clear shampoo destroyed my color-treated hair 2 years ago after just 3 weeks of use, and my poor strands still have not recovered.

Unfortunately, Simple Skincare isn't considered cruelty free by most of the large cruelty free bloggers, such as Logical Harmony, Cruelty Free Kitty, Ethical Elephant, or by organizations such as Leaping Bunny. Its sad to know you can't trust the brands, and what they put on their packaging, as its not regulated because there is no legal definition of cruelty free. I miss purchasing from them some times.
@AbbeyYung4 жыл бұрын
What sources do they use to be able to say that? Very curious it’s not something I’ve known how to look into in depth!
@emilynmax4 жыл бұрын
@@AbbeyYung they have very specific questions and ask the brands directly. Brands can say things like, "we do not test our products on animals", but in fact hire a 3rd party to do the testing, sell in countries where testing is required by law, or all the ingredients have been but the final finished product wasn't tested. There are lots of tricky ways to get around it. I recommend Logical Harmony, as Tashina is the top resource and she has a lot of amazing articles and lists. A great place to start in my opinion 😊 Leaping Bunny is my other personal fave resource. Cruelty free beauty information is a very deep rabbit hole to go into. You can ask me questions if you want as well, though I'm learning more everyday.
@RachelDee4 жыл бұрын
@@AbbeyYung Please take a minute to consider taking "cruelty free" out of your video title because Simple has discrepancies around the wording. It's kind of along the same lines as some of the makeup and skincare that touts as using the word "clean" to define themselves while containing common irritants and then people don't realize which brands actually are free of the irritating ingredients. Tashina at Logical Harmony and the official Leaping Bunny site have the strictest criteria and most direct questions that the brands have to answer before they can be approved. Even if there's no signs the brand allows any testing, LH and LB wait to receive straight forward answers. There's definitely been times the signs were there that the brand wasn't cruelty free even though they used language to make it sound like they were. It's a dodgy industry. Thanks to social media, people send photos to Logical Harmony if brands are caught lying, and they're removed from LH and LB's lists depending on how the brand verifies or explains it.
