I'd say caches along the way to your bugout location is ideal, that way you can start off with minimum gear and pick up your supplies at your cache points to restock on the various items required, or add gear that you'll only need at a later stage compared to having to haul everything from the get go 🤔

How about bugging in instead? For me bugging out is a last option. I believe in a bug out system with multiple kits but if we had to only take the things we need to survive. Having a family with small children could be a death sentence for them and the only reason you would leave your house is because your life is more in danger at home. Finding like minded people and people you can trust will help your family survive. If we had to go we move as a group and everybody is ready for what’s to come. Being ready mentally, physically, and spiritually.🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

@@bjornanderson3645 I have different kits for different situations/categories. EMP,blackout,medical,tents/camping,bugout roll,ammo roll, and etc. Leaving in a vehicle not a problem loading up but going on foot have to pick and choose what we need. Definitely bury what we could for later or coming back to but a lot of stuff would be left behind.

I probably would bring this up, as a martial artist, but if you train in your gear and add a weighted vest to it without the weighted vest you will feel way lighter. Might be a bonehead answer but figure I'd enter it into the conversation

Consider using something like a Ranger Vest where you can transfer some of your gear (fire making, water treatment, repair, IFAK...) from your pack to your vest so that it will lighten the pack on your back & redistribute the weight to the front of the vest. This might also help to keep the most important gear closer & readily accessible to you. If you're wearing cargo pants you can use those pockets to carry even more gear thereby leaving your pack to mostly carry your sleep system, shelter, spare clothes & water
@Ilovefoood1

Do a lot of small things to make a big thing something I would change about my dad’s bug out bag is that he has his holster for his 9 mm handgun on the bag which it would be smarter to put it on your belt because you can access it faster and it will take away weight from the bag . Also, I suggest getting even a fake armored vest just for the storage on your chest for things like ammunition so you can have more space for other things in your bag. Also wear cargo pants for all the little pockets.

It doesn't really matter what the storage weight of your bug out kit is. However, you do need to minimize what you need. Once deployed, you should empty your kit and spread it out over your body. Weapons and tools can be put in pockets, connected to the outside of your kit, and your belt. Spreading out your essential tools, will get them out of your pack, allowing for more cargo space for food and other supplies

Stop watching videos and go spend time actually living in the wilds. Learn to minimize your need for ammunition, by --increasing situational awareness --learning to live stealthily --learning to hunt effectively, especially with primitive weapons --be a scarce and hard target Reduce the need for food, by maximizing the use of wild food sources. Reduce the need for cash by wildcrafting as much as possible. Learn to scrounge and re-purpose. Mend your clothing. Remember that your "bug-out" kit is simply a crutch to help you adapt to nature. It buys some time. Use it up, wear it out, make it do, and do without. Adapt.

Arrange storage locations even if it's just a friend's house along your route and then have the hidden cash or buried cashe. Conceptually and logistically it's the same thing but if you have stuff stored at a place then you can arrange to have perishable items and you can change about your equipment or clean and reload your firearms and refresh canteen or bladder bag. Now that's my answer but I would try to bug out on a bicycle and have a small cart attached to the bicycle that i could pull by hand and if necessary it can be abandoned.
