I use them as presence/alarm sensors for micros but I still have a number of SR501s in use for nightlight duties. A bit old school but an SR501 an LDR, transistor and a string of rice lights makes for a simple adjustable automated night light.

The sr692 won’t power a 12v bulb. I ran the sr602 at 10v and the out pin to the gate of a irfz44n MOSFET to power a 12v led. The voltage output of the MOSFET is dependent upon the input voltage at the base. The base of the SR 602 specs at 3.2 V max so 12 V LED lights extremely dimly. Any ideas?

Have you experimented with changing the delay resistor? I replaced the zero ohm with 104+473+103 0603 resistors (total 157k ohm) but it stays ON for only 20 seconds.

I have the same PIR sensor (BS612 6 leg) on a larger board and I want to stuff it in a tiny hole. Would it be ok to desolder it from the board and run it on a cable to the board (5cm max, maybe some cat4 cable)? Would that cause any issues like too much noise or signal loss? I've never seen those sensors not soldered directly into a board, which makes me slightly suspicious. :)

When I first start my power supply my sensor stays high for around 8 seconds and then works as expected. This is the case when I completely black out the sensor with tape, with regular room lighting conditions, and with bright light. Any thoughts?

It needs some time to stabilize every time it is powered up.

@@SimpleElectronics Thanks, seems like a lot is missing from the datasheet unfortunately including this "feature" and no mention of how to tune the sensitivity resistors.

Mine did the same after I put on a different value resistor for the delay. It would turn on for a bit then back off, etc., etc., etc., until I replaced the original 0ohm resistor. Then it worked as expected. No matter what value resistor I tried, it would always do the on/off/on/off cycle.

@@SimpleElectronics that'll be great! My sensors are too sensitive, and is constantly detecting motion even though i am not anywhere near it. Thanks for the great content so far!
