@SimpleGuitar, I saw a YT video showing how you can insert an actual audio song directly into Guitar Pro 8 rather than using the MIDI?
@vvcv__00
@vvcv__00 Жыл бұрын
@@OTCRock4one i didn't watch this entire video, but I think i've read/seen something about being able to change the tuning and/or the keys to songs you import into GP8. That is what you are asking right? Whether or not you can change existing tabulated songs to Eb? So that the F note on an E string, on an imported song, can then be changed in GP8 to show the F note being played on the 2nd fret (of Eb tuning) rather than the 1st fret?

Great video and timely too. Between a 300+ page manual and a very busy interface I was feeling a bit overwhelmed by my first look at GP8. I just found a guitar instructor who provides printed lesson material and being able to easily put his notes in GP is a real help. The first steps with the app got me past the initial confusion. @SimpleGuitarDotCom
@SimpleGuitarDotCom Жыл бұрын
@@jimwar1890 Yes you can absolutely use keyboard shortcuts. I use them ALL THE TIME! If you're on tab, you can move between strings and beats within the measure and then hit any number key to show what fret you're playing on that string. If you're in standard notation for guitar you place your cursor on the space or line for the note you want, then you hit a number for what string on the guitar you want that note played on. And in the left side menu there's a button you can hit that will bring up a window where you can select what finger you want to use for the highlighted note.

Absolutely I can do all of that. There’s not a super magical way to do the copy/paste, but I have had to do it multiple times and I can show you how. And to tie notes across bar lines, simply put your cursor on the beat 1 notes (right side of the bar line) and press ‘L’ on your keyboard. That’s the keyboard shortcut for tying notes together and it’ll work across bar lines too! Hope that helps!

I just got Guitar Pro 8. Your vid here helps big time. One thing I haven't been able to find, maybe you can help? For placing chords, it seems you have to have a note for the beat placement of the chord, but I want to place chords where a note is held. For example, on "The Christmas Song," 2nd measure (4/4 time), where the lyrics go: | Chest nuts roas-ting on an | op-en fire |, open fire is two 8th notes, a half note, and a quarter rest. I want to put chords above beats 3 and 4, but since there's no note on beat 3 (the half note spans beats 2 and 3), the software won't let me. I use a work-around by tying two quarter notes in place of the half note, but it makes the lyric melody slightly cumbersome (less easy) to read. Here's my question: Do you know how to place chords anywhere above the melody irrespective of how the melody lays on the beat? Note: It doesn't matter, in this case, if guitar pro will be able to play it back correctly (although that would be nice); I just want to be able to print it out like that.
@SimpleGuitarDotCom
@SimpleGuitarDotCom Жыл бұрын
One quick thing you could do it just insert your chord name as a text placement above the staff. Rather than hitting the 'A' shortcut on the keyboard to place a chord, hit "T" where you want to just insert text. Would that work?

I really would like to know if there is a possibillity to just write Leadsheets in letz say the style of the real book or something simular. I played around with the trial version but did not find something to mainly transcribe the chords in an easy to read way and with propper lead sheet style. so far the only program i found where i can write decente lead sheets is band in a box. but the down part of that program is that it is totaly overloaded with features and its very big to install. are there any suggestions you can make regarding GP or any other program that can do this with ease? I mean the writng of TAB and and all this might is interesting for metal and rock guitar players and deaftones. but to more jazzy guys or arrangers its totaly useless since musicians can read music in a traditional way and also dont need chord symbol over the note lines. thanx you best regards chris
@SimpleGuitarDotCom
@SimpleGuitarDotCom Жыл бұрын
You can't create rhythm sheets with Guitar Pro. Another easy way to do that is just with a word processor where you paste in the lyrics, double space it, and then put your chords over the right word. However, GP is not just for tab, you can use it for standard notation just as easily & you can toggle if it shows you the chord name over the music or not. You could use it to create a lead sheet that just has the melody in notation & place chords above like in a fake book or something. I'm a fan for making things easy, though, & when I played in jazz band through high school I always appreciated the arrangers that would put the chords above the music.

Yes. You can't edit Songbook files. It's one reason why I don't like the Songbook files. I've seen unnecessary rests that I want to condense or wanted to adjust how many measures are on a line and whatnot and you can't do any of that on a Songbook file.

thanks in advance for your video: but I still don't understand what guitar pro 8 actually stands for. I would like to learn to play guitar with musical notes. I want to learn step by step: reading notes, practicing scales, learning to play chords. is this app good or are there other apps you can recommend? thank you.

Guitar Pro 8 is a musical notation program. It's can be, but it's not necessarily a learning platform. You can find things that are created as a file in Guitar Pro 8 so that you can see and hear them as you're learning, but it's not like a program where it walks you through learning step by step. If you haven't seen it already, I do have a course that will help you with what you want called the Jumpstart Course that takes you from absolute zero and will get you playing real music right away and get you playing chords and getting up into scales. It's a quick way to get up and going and playing useful, relevant things right off the bat. You can learn more about it and get it her: simpleguitar.com/jumpstart

I'm still using GP7 and today it started to crashing when I export audio files as MP3 and WAV... I've been using it for years... Does anyone know how to solve/fix it?
@SimpleGuitarDotCom
@SimpleGuitarDotCom Жыл бұрын
Oooh, that sucks! I would just make sure that your GP7 is fully up to date as well as your computer. Have you tried reaching out to Guitar Pro support to see if there's an issue? I know that they release these new versions because as hardware and software develop the old versions become incompatible, but it would surprise me if 7 wasn't compatible still.

What I stuggle with is I can't make Guitar Pro 8 sound like the good old Guitar Pro 5. That sound is soo damn good and I don't know how to make it sound like the 5

I only briefly used GP5 before they changed to 6. I just found that I can download it and maybe I'll mess around with it and with the soundbanks to see if there's anything that can be done to make it sound better. The primary purpose of the sounds in Guitar Pro seems to be more supportive than anything like getting a high quality recording. I use Logic for stuff that I actually want other people to hear that's more than just a simple backing track to practice with.

Is the extension for these files that open up in Guitar Pro. GPX? I'm starting the Metal Method course, do you have any tutorials for showing how to loop one section to practice it over and over? This is pretty advanced for a tutorial for beginners.
@SimpleGuitarDotCom
@SimpleGuitarDotCom Жыл бұрын
There are multiple extensions for Guitar Pro files. The latest is ".gp" but you can open any Guitar Pro file made in a previous version in the most current version. For example, you can open .gp3, .gp5, or .gpx files in Guitar Pro 8 and then when you save it it will save as a new .gp file. You'll want to check out this video that is exactly about how to loop one section to practice it over and over: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mJaIi8lkz8m7h4k.html What other things would you want to see in a beginner tutorial? What am I overlooking?

@@SimpleGuitarDotCom, thank you for the explanation. There are those students such as I who have never heard of this product before. 1. The first thing to do for someone who is learning to play the guitar, would be to go over the different extensions, the different ways to open the files, there is more likely than one way to open it, and explain the shortcuts to open such files. 2. Someone who is learning to play the guitar, should only focus how to open the files and how to loop one bar at a time, two bars, etc. until the student is able to play all the bars of a song, so that you are looping the entire song. 3. How to use the metronome on Guitar Pro, and how to sync it to a song. Learning to make your own tab in Guitar Pro, should be an intermediate lesson. If you had Patreon, I would suggest making PDFs to go along with your tutorials, and they would be Tier Rewards. Thank you for the link, I shall save that video. :)

@@ravenshadowz2343 as someone who has played for years & used Guitar Pro for years it's really easy to overlook things like this. Thank you so much for pointing these out to me. I'll make a video going over all of this.

I imported a song but I just want to learn it and not write anything but I cant figure out how to make the song big enough to read it. How do I loop sections. I am looking for these answers but cant seem to find them.

Hey Stoney! On the desktop app in the upper left hand side of the top there's a button with a magnifying glass and it might say like 100% next to it. Click on that and you can select different zoom sizes to see your sheet. I use a trackpad so I also just pinch to zoom with two fingers if you have the capability. And to loop songs, you can click and drag to highlight the part you want to loop, then make sure that the loop button that's in the middle right of the top section toolbar is turned on. Then you can just hit play or space bar and it will loop the highlighted section. Here's a video on how to do that and more to learn parts of songs way better: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mJaIi8lkz8m7h4k.html

@@SimpleGuitarDotCom Thank you for answering. I have figured out how to loop but the other topic will help me. Thank you. I am looking to see if I can import a song from itunes into guitar pro and see the tab on it. I believe so far from what I have read it would need to be a song that has already been edited in guitar pro editing. Am I correct. The song I want to learn the lead parts on is not in songbook or ultimate guitar. Ultimate guitar only has the chords for it not the lead. Thanks in advance for your answer.

I think I have to write the tab myself following this video. Unless the song has been guitar pro edited. I think. I may be able to import the song from itunes but may need to convert it to the MDI whatever it is file. Is that correct? Im still watching videos and may get the answers through doing that but am asking in case I cant find the answer. Thanks.

@@MsDogcat123 yep that's right! The good news is that the skills that you gain by first figuring out the song by ear and then secondly transcribing it into the program are infinitely valuable. It's harder at firsts but completely worth it and the more you do it the better & faster you get.

I'm looking for some software that I can write my own music. I play several instruments and use a Tascam DP-32SD to record (trust me...I'm just an average guitar player), however I'd like to put my songs to musical notation. I have no interest in any other songs that may be in the software catalog. I'd hate to lay out the cost of the software only to find out it may be somewhat different than the software I am presently using. My question to you is will the free version allow me to test Guitar Pro to the point where I can make a rational decision about purchasing the product?

Those have to be added manually to a melody line and most guitar players never take the time to do that because they're only worried about the guitar part.

So Was still using GP6 and have not changed my system other than having to change my hard drive now all of a sudden my GP6 does not work after reinstalling. So making me wonder did you purposely make changes to keep me from using it? and make me upgrade? I did upgrade at one time to 6.5 but lost my key. And my download. This is supposed to be good if I do not change my system for life. I am 66 and don't use it much but I paid for it. And it should still be working. I do not have the budget to keep upgrading everything all the time. Life is short. ???

I am not a part of Arobas Music and don't work with Guitar Pro or anything. But I imagine you'd have to go into your Guitar Pro account at guitar-pro.com and release your license from the previous computer (hard drive) it was installed on so that you can use it on the new hard drive. I believe I've had to do that in the past.

If you are not "PRO" musical, do not buy this piece of crap software... it's can't transcript your melody mp3 file to the tab automatically... when you use this scam software it will make you feel like: you play CD player and you take a piece of paper and pen to write your melody of you hear from CD player to paper manually...😐
