NO, your'e NOT alone in believing NGD to be their ulrimate best song - their Master Piece! And the whole entire record to be their very best ever - with not a single "weak" title. Love it to bits. Never ever tire of it, even having listened to it hundreds of times through the years. This IS what turned me into a life long devotee of SM. Finding this footage to be absolutely stunning; the singing, playing, lightning ans a wonderful enthusiastic crowd! 😘❤️❤️❤️👌

I’ve seen SM on every tour to Aus in last 10 years apart from the last one. Too many line up changes and people in the band who haven’t really been a part of the music. I’ve got nothing against the new members but wish the line up of the past decade was still there.

I don't know if I'll ever get to see this amazing band. I'm only 36, but I've loved them since I was 20. Obviously, they are before my time, but great music transcends generations. It's there for whoever looks for it. This particular song, just makes me think of turning 21, and the hope and wonder I had for the future. Listening to this on a sunny day, driving in the hilly roads where I live, made me feel invincible at the time. I miss that feeling.

Heard this tonight in the car for the first time in 30 years. Could be their best IMO. Forgot i even had the album in my stash. Just gave me retro whiplash from my youth. 56 now and it sounds just as great as it did when i was in my 20's. And moves me just the same as it did then. Brilliant.

How can I explain that... ? Simple Minds is clearly far ahead many other bands. They have proved through years their ability to create so many classic songs with such emotions. Even these old songs are fantastic and sounds like anthems : New Gold, Speed Your Love, Waterfront, Sanctify, Real Life, Home,Stars Will Lead. They remain incredible and so convincing, valuable, a real musical force. They can be hugely proud to their career.

Bit of a bummer here: after 2 yrs of waiting, in Amsterdam they left NGD out of the set...could not believe it! Concert was excellent, and with nearly 3 hrs they did not take it lightly, but driving home i couldnot help feeling we missed something....

I was at this gig. It was tremendous and had a great atmosphere. For me it slightly shaded the one at the Hydro in Glasgow this Saturday past. Simple Minds were typically excellent on both nights, but the Usher Hall concert had the better ambience. I'd still go back and see them in Glasgow, though, if it was impossible to see them in Edinburgh.

This song is awesome driving on winding mountain roads lined with tall pine trees. This is a sparkling gem in a sea of great tunes to come out of the 80's alternative scene.

I am still watching this video several times a week and in my opinion, having watched a number of renditions of this song, this performance is way out and above any other that Simple Minds have ever done of New Gold Dream. And yes, Mel Gaynor was "King of the Drums" and following Jim's comment, the guitar work was nothing short of Superb. I cannot see myself ever tiring of watching this rendition.

Love it and even if I'm just 21, which means I never experienced the 80s, this song creates a feeling of timetraveling in my head, like no other song ever did. Makes me wonder, if I'm just born into the wrong age...
