This literally just saved my build, I overlooked the ram… I had it in the wrong slots! This is my fourth build I’ve done.. I thought I wasn’t a n00b, I was wrong! The amount of shame I’m feeling right now… rough. 😂

but having the ram on the “wrong” slots doesn’t cause it to not boot up or anything, it wont run at the fastest speeds/ its not optimized for it but it should still work, you do get a message tho for the ram not being in the optimized slots

Its not always a2b2 it might actually be a1b1, just check whats written on the motherboard itself... If for some misterious reason nothing is writen, check manuals or website

but that’s for dual memory ram, you can a2 b2 or a1 b1 or have all slots taken but both ram should have the same mhz frequency to obtain dual mem boost

Always double check optimal location according to motherboard manual for ram slots if only using 2 of 4 Most now days this doesn’t matter like on new motherboards. Or if u don’t remember theres almost no harm aside from if u bang up ur parts from all the swapping in just trying ur ram in all configurations until it posts before sending it in. 👍🏻 single slotting ram also to check individual ram sticks is an option 2

mate plugging the rams in slot like a1 b1 or a2 b2 or a1 b2 or any combination won't give you ram debug led it just doesn't give you the dual channel ability

easiest repair for me was a computer that didn’t boot and when i checked it had a floppy disk inside so the computer would never boot. took it out and voila easy 60bucks

what you said is not true, its true for most motherboards that those slots are the best, but it depends per mobo. It is also in the manual of the mobo

Plugging ram in a1 b1 or in any order doesn't give any error in unit. The advantage of using A2 B2 is having you access in Dual Channel for Ram

Except A1 B1 also gives you dual channel… Only using A1 A2 or B1 B2 would result in the user not having dual channel. There is actually a preference for every motherboard and you should always check the manual for the specific model to see which slots are preffered for a specific configuration, but even if you don’t follow that, as long as you keep dual channel, you’ll be fine.

Putting them in A2 B2 is slightly better but it's really not a problem to put them in A1B1, you'll still get dual RAM performance.

I almost scraped my mobo because I didn't sit the cpu properly. 1 ram slot worked the 2nd didn't. After reseating the cpu, everything worked perfectly

My mobo only works on A1B1 not A2B2 MSI pro 650p wifi board. A2B2 is recommend as well. Bad board?

I also have a red light on my cpu motherboard light everytime I turn it on.. but on some games it stutters and I worry it’s not properly installed. I’ve reinstalled it twice now, changed cooler, repasted etc. temps are normal, I also have 4 ram sticks in all 4 slots, 4x8GB, anyone have any idea why I still get the cpu light? Thanks!

My easiest repair is very weird, i had an old laptop with removable cpu, i swapped it for fun, didnt work, put in the old cpu, doesnt post. My mom called and said dinner was ready so i put the laptop away and forgot about it. 3 weeks later i grab the laptop, turn it on and it boots right into windows, i was like wtf

@@itsrampage4557 Yep, AM5 is an LGA socket. It's not Intel specific. LGA stands for "Land Grid Array", meaning that it has the pins on the motherboard. AM4 is PGA "Pin Grid Array", which means that the pins are on the CPU.

Ram slot indentifiers on motherboards. Useful if you're running dual channel, as on most mobos you should install the two modules in A2 and B2, although some manufacturers do allow an A1 B1configuration (for best operation). They're silk-screened onto your mobo. Usually next to the ram slots, making them hard to see.

Theres a small button on the mobo and a designated usb port you plug a thumb stick into then hit the little mobo button and it’ll flash bios with the .ROM file on your usb

basic input output system. (modern versions are technicaly called UEFI and not BIOS, but everyone says BIOS because its a better word) It is the firmware on every motherboard that loads the OS (like Windows or Linux)
