Thanks for all the views and likes! :)
I have obtained a Simplex 4905-9938 SmartSync module to set off my Simplex 4906-9134 TrueAlert chime/strobe. We can finally hear the chime! It is accompanied by my Simplex 4904-9332 from Dad's work.
As you can see, it sounds pretty much identical to the Wheelock CH series, just as I expected.
Here is another one of these new devices: • Simplex Multitone True...

As someone who does annual Fire Tests and Inspections for various businesses, theses would be so much nicer than most of the ear shattering horn/strobes I listen to. Haha

I mean like but the plus side to the horn strobes is you can actually hear them I kid you not in the A hall (band choir theater art intro to music) we have that same chime and you can't even hear it but like it is nice so your ears aren't shattered

***** Yeah, I had no idea these even existed until I came across this one on eBay. I know chime/strobes aren't extremely popular, so I'm guessing Simplex isn't selling too many of these to building owners. I know Simplex is more expensive as well, and most buildings are still going with the Wheelock chimes. I still have yet to find a building with these TrueAlert chimes.

+Zachary KaiserFilms That's what I've heard, but I think that's just a name that someone dubbed them. Because in reality it's the same exact device. The only difference is the "TrueAlert" label on the cover. I've seen the 4904-9332 with and without labeling on it.

I agree. I like this device, but I do think it is a Wheelock CH series knock-off. The multi-tone horns that were released in this series have at least 4 tones that sound identical to Wheelock MT horns. Wheelock came up with all that stuff first, and I think they should take some action. The only electric horns by Simplex that really have their own sound are the 4903 square horns.

@msj191961
@msj191961 9 жыл бұрын
With this particular device, the manual says that march time is the exact same thing as continuous. On most chimes, that is true, the continuous chime is just one chime, but this one doesn't have that option to be pulsed like that.

so let me get this straight. any simplex alarm wont work without the smart sync module. The module you need to get is the 4905-9938. you also dont need a panel to have it work with any alarm. you can just wire it up to power and connect wires to the alarm Also will it work with any truealert?
@msj191961
@msj191961 9 жыл бұрын
I never said all Simplex alarms. Most Simplex TrueAlerts require the module to make them work, but there are a few models that don't. You can't wire all alarms up to power and expect them to work. Some of them are addressable and require an addressable control panel to make them work. If you're asking about the the sync module, you can only wire alarms up to it that are supposed to be used with it, in this case some newer Simplex models. Other types and brands of alarms will not operate correctly on the wrong sync module, if there even is one for that model.

How many wires did you hook up to the module
@msj191961
@msj191961 10 жыл бұрын
Well, I used three sets of wires. A pair of wires need to come from your power supply and go to NAC IN + and - terminals on the module. If you want the horn to work, you need to jump the power over to HORN CONTROL IN + and -. Finally, the third pair of wires go from the NAC OUT circuit on the module to your notification appliance.

I have a question, what battery do you use and how long does it last till you need a new one?? Also can you plug those in to the wall with a converter or some sort without a panel??
@msj191961
@msj191961 10 жыл бұрын
Well, it really depends on the type of alarm. For a normal fire alarm, it just needs to be connected to 24 volts dc (you need to check the voltage label on the alarm just in case it takes something different). Doesn't matter if it's batteries, or a power supply. Since this alarm is newer, it uses Simplex's SmartSync system, so that's what that module is. I would recommend getting a panel, though. It adds a lot more fun to it, and you can hook up devices like smoke detectors.
