On the back, it opens by sliding the back cover off DOWN, away from the button. When the tape is not on the back, you can see the cover has a hole across it and you can see the battery inside as well. You just take your thumb and put it in that open area and pull down away from the button side.

thank you for showing us how to glue with sticky tape! Update: the sensor falls off after a couple of months if adhesive strips are used

Hey Lamont.. oh crud... off the top of my head I cannot remember what size it is... an oddball one.. but no, I haven't had to change it yet.. I think it will last several years.. I have had another motion sensor in my living room for about 6 years and never changed the battery. still working.. Take care my FRIEND :)

Had to set the motion to high sensitivity, even then, when active on "Away", at times it takes awhile for it to trigger the alarm. It's not perfect, but it works.

AS PER SIMPLISAFE, THE UNIT NEEDS UP TO 3 MINUTES TO GO ACTIVE, AFTER BEING TURNED ON (AWAY MODE). IT SCANS THE ROOM, AND BECOMES FAMILIAR WITH THE ENVIRONMENT. I actually tried this, and it needs the time to scan the room, so LovesHighGround, be assured that this is the case!!

When you need a degree from MIT just to remove the battery cover it doesn't bode well for we non-techies. I have been trying to get the battery cover off all morning to no avail. I'm afraid I will break the plastic before it opens. Any suggestions out there?

Replacing batteries on SimpliSafe devices is way too complicated they need to make it easier.

Hey ASHISH.. YOU can use the screws if you want.. I found the sticky tape was sufficient to hold mine up.. it's been up still since install.. you can use the screws if desired

hmm... when my system is set for home.. the motion sensor is turned off.. but the exterior ones still work.. I would just set it for home with pets there

Nothing like watching someone who have never done it.... And then then say it's the way to do it. Simplisafe says to mount the sensor about 5 feet off the floor.

Sorry about that Steve. I did mount mine about 7 feet up haven't had an issue but I should take the time to go over the instructions first.. my videos aren't meant as an end all be all to the process but kind of a general overview that might not be 100% with the instructions.. For households with large pets they actually suggest 6-8 feet.

The sticky tape strategy is doomed to failure; don't do it. it will constantly lose adhesion, and the sensor will drop to the floor. I believe the issue is that engineering assumed you''d have a square corner, and framed walls are rarely perfectly square, so this technique is a really bad strategy.

Hey WILLIAM, this has actually held so far. I was a bit shocked myself.. I figured I would try that out then screw it on if it didn't hold.. The item is fairly light and the adhesion is pretty good :)

I've used similar sticky tape with hooks in my kitchen and wreath hooks on my front door. Over five years later and they're still up, and they actually support weight.

My system still doesn't work. The motion sensor will NOT connect to the keypad. So I bought a second sensor, thinking that the first one was faulty. The second one won't work either. I'm returning the entire system for a full refund. I can't tell you how exasperating and frustrating this situation is.

@@ETPCYT Thanks for showing me the sensitivity switch. I already installed some sensors but I ordered more. I didn't know you could adjust the sensitivity switch. With the new ones. I adjusted them to high. Now I know what to do. Thank you for this video.
